My argument (based on my poor memory) was that the Reische is less of a bottleneck under all conditions, even fully open, compared to the Whipple tstat. I could be wrong, but I think it still makes sense. Doesn't matter if I'm right though, plenty of people can vouch for the better temps with the Reische.

Just some reference for anyone searching in the future my Hellion sleeper A10 car runs about 195 CHT after a it reaches operating temps. Creeps up to 200 during a hit or sitting at a light but drops right back down once I’m cruising again. Stock T stat on a 39 degree night.

Glad you answered yourself basically the same way i would for the first 3/4 of your post lol. Not trying to be a dick. LIke you said, the Tstat is designed to be a bottleneck to limit flow to the radiator during warm up and cold temps. Once it's fully open, it's open.
So a 168 jet from a Dellorto carburettor should flow the same as a 2” gate valve when they’re both “open”?

Pick up a Resiche 170* and move on with life. The stock one does not fully open until ~195*f, so you will usually run 199-210 head temps with coolant temps in the 195-200 range. With the 170* you will see head temps stay in the 190* range all the time and coolant in the 180-185 range

Yea there’s just an overwhelming amount of data and references that shows it reduces temps by 10-15 across the range. So I don’t really know what that other member was talking about.

But regardless thanks for everyone else’s feedback!!
