Does the gen 3 coyote di system result in more fuel in the oil vs just pi gens? my old car had a early di system that caused a lot of wash down. I end up sniffing the dipstick like it's a fresh pie out of habit (that's what she said). I haven't noticed much of a fuel smell but I idle till hot before every drive and I rip the car a few times every drive so maby it flashes off? havent sent a sample to blackstone since the prices went up so untill I get 5k of long hard miles on it I don't have a sample worth testing imho. tbh I haven't even looked up when the di system is going vs pi for a given load.

if there's some fuel in the oil, when you drain it you'll see two different streams.

My 2022 oil cap says 5w30, but Ford updated their spec to recommend 5w20

At operating temperatures the Delta between the two viscosities is nearly non-existent. I stop just shy of saying there is no difference, because obviously there is. It's just miniscule. But small differences can have big impact on car with very tight tolerances.

And of course the mpg conspiracy theorists have a different idea

They went back to 5W30 for 2024 right?

If you're boosted or on E85 you're going to possibly have more fuel in the oil than a stock car which will thin the oil out so go thicker to compensate

You are going to get a zillion opinions on this. I run Castrol EDGE Extended Performance (but seems like it is starting to get scarce) in 5W-30. In the coldest part of winter where I live in Southern Indiana it may get down into the single digits, but mostly in the 20s. So I don't feel like I have to go 0W. 30 is plenty acceptable as far as speed to get to all the moving parts. Whatever you lose in higher in viscosity moving slower, you gain by it clinging to the parts more overnight.

I know some may freak, but I let the Oil Life Monitor tell me when to change. EP is "rated" for 20K miles, but the OLM is telling me it's hitting 0% oil life at around 10K. I also use one bottle of Ceratec per change and Motorcraft filter. I try not to go over 2K RPM's until the engine temp hits normal. With this process I get no rattles and no tick. Good luck with your research!

When did they update to 5w20 again? They switched from 5w20 to 5w30 mid-yearish 2021 and was 5w30 for the remainder of S550. Did they go back to 20 for S650?

Nope, it's stayed 5w30 since 21. It's what I use now, I even got the updated oil cap lol

All I know for sure is my 2022 came with the oil cap saying 5/30 and the spec sheet from Ford also said 5/30. But I checked the updated spec sheet again a month or so ago and it now calls for 5/20

I'm sure fuel evaporates out of your oil very quickly. Its why the EPA doesnt want you to run breathers on your valve covers and use a PCV system sending it back through the engine for another chance of combusting it. Water in your oil will also evaporate out or even boil out if your oil temp gets that high. Oil in your catch can being milky is because its catching these none oil liquid/ vapor and some oil from going through the engine again. Its normal.

If you get so much fuel in your oil you notice it by smell, you have something much more serious going on, and what you you choose won't fix that. OR you are doing something silly like starting and shutting off the engine after 30 seconds of running a couple dozen times while its cold, and not letting the oil build up any temperature. DI is used when the engine is first started for catalytic converter light off and emissions reduction for the first 30 seconds or so until its above 170*. Longer when you get near and below freezing temps. Even then, with the proper ring tolerances you probablly wouldn't notice fuel in your oil.

Ford also said the gen 3 went back to 11:1 compression. I think this is all typos or misreported info from Ford.
