I am surprised to see no one is using 5W-40
because it's a bit harder to find. I mix 3qts of 5w40 'Euro' spec PUP into my 10qt oil pan otherwise filled with 5w30 PUP or Castrol. I have tons of 10w40 on hand but that goes in the motorcycle engines.

Pennzoil Platinum or Quaker State Ultimate Durability.

For your Ecoboost - ABSOLUTELY run a quality synthetic. The turbo creates a lot of heat and oil keep it lubricated. You need a quality oil that will withstand that stress.

I would also run only a full syn in the Coyote as well. These are high tech, tight tolerance engines. Even though it’s “good enough” to use a semi syn, I would just opt for the extra piece of mind. You can extend the OCI to help offset the cost.

me? nah. project farms tho.
He tests everything. really encourage you to watch his work.

Nice, I'll check it out. It can be hard to tell who has everyone's best interest in mind and who is a reseller of Amsoil trying to advertise their product to make a sale.

I used Motorcraft full synthetic 5w30 in my 2015 EcoBoost. Changed out the factory fill at ~500 miles. Then every 5k, starting at 5k, after that. 60k+ and no issues.

I have a 2021 GT, the oil filler cap indicates 5w30, how come lots of you guys are running 5w20 in your coyotes?
I always use Pennzoil platinum synthetic, btw.

Thanks Anthony

Some years specified 5w20 in the owner's manual. For 2021, Ford changed the specification to 5w30 with 0w30 as an alternative if you lived in a colder climate. I would forgo the 5w30 recommendation and just go with a 0w30. There are no downsides besides price by going with 0w30 over 5w30.

Sounds like ford switched to 5w30 then. I have a 2018 GT and my oilcap says 5w20 and the manual says to switch to 5w30 before a track day.

I ended up putting 5w30 in my car a few weeks ago since I live in the desert and temps are going to be going up pretty soon.

Oh ok, cool. Thanks. Are you running semi-synthetic? Or full synthetic?
Thanks Anthony
