Between premium, extra,base, and powertrain is premium necessary? I dont know if the components it covers are even present in gt350 or if they are worth covering.

Go with the premium. For $200 a year it covers virtually everything. Most importantly the electronics systems.

Where did you get those quotes and why are they so high?? My 8yr/60k mile PremiumCare ESP purchased last July was $2950.

PremiumCare covers the PCM Module. Which would not be an inexpensive repair. Get light coverage too.

I went through this dilemma recently. I ended up going with Premium chiefly because there were plenty of dumb exclusions in the lower tiers. For instance, only the front suspension is covered under Extra but not the rear suspension. Also with Premium you can purchase the additional lighting coverage (for $15) which covers any of the expensive lighting components on these cars.

But you are right, a lot of the "High tech" stuff does not exist on the GT350.

IMO once you have convinced yourself that purchasing an extended warranty is not a stupid idea, then you might as well go for Premium. That initial hurdle was the hardest for me personally.

I did base, i went thru and highlighted the items i knew were common on this car and concerned me most, and then felt that base covered most of what I was worried about. My main concerns were things I saw others have issues with, and things I have had issues with.

I have 77,200 miles on the car which is why the quotes are high.

The cost difference between base and premium is almost $2,500 and I dont know if what premium covers and base doesnt can add up to that to pay itself. In 6 years and 77,200 miles this is what broke on my car:

1st year : A/C was replaced. No issues since then
2nd year: differential pinion seal was leaking and replaced
4th year: Front control arm was replaced due warn rubber bushing ($132) and main fuse was replaced due to my wife hooking the jumper cables to the fuse box rather than battery terminals ($120).

The last two items are the only things I paid the first two warranty covered. But the car has been pretty bullet proof. It doesnt mean things wont start breaking right away but I guess for my mileage the cost difference between premium vs base is quite high and I’m not sure if its worth it.

Weird how we get so big of a variation on pricing.
My current Premium plan is about to expire and i was also debating on going down to a base, since i never once had to use the warranty. But for the price difference for me it's a no brainer to step up to the premium, but for the OP i can see why consider it since for him it's a $3,300.00 extra between the 2.

Here in Canada the rates are:
Based on a 4/48 for a 2017 GT350 with 29,000 km (About 18,000 miles)

Premium=$3,500.00
Powertrain base care=$2,800.00
Powertrain care=$2,600.00
