I own a 2017 GT350R. I have owned it for about a year, I purchased it with 32 miles last October.

Fast forward to today, about 1300 miles. Very cautious up to the 1000 mile mark, and frankly I am cautious now. I am 62, I don't need to drive fast anymore, and the Shelby is my 3rd car, behind a Lincoln Aviator and BMW E92 V8 M3, m so it is my drive to work on Friday car, if the weather is nice!

I want to buy the Ford extended warranty. The full boat plan with the most coverage, for 5 years or 48K more miles is 5158.10 with 10% down, and the remaining balance paid per month with no interest. Here is the warranty details. https://images.fordprotectplans.com/Web/FORD/{b63703a8-d050-4f16-b0dc-8e777e1f5e4d}_60387_803b_FP_Premium_2019_Downloadable.pdf?elqTrackId=b62b8b44d7b0419ba22da6b015985141&elq=c10e8879c5d64bd2bc101a6b6eb589db&elqaid=127&elqat=1&elqCampaignId=

I have a power train option, only covers lubricated parts, for again 48K additional miles, and costs 3247.45. !0% down, and the rest over 5 years with again no interest. They will not share a brochure on the power train option. Both plans have a 100.00 deductible. The car also needs to be inspected before I can buy a plan.

I should add, that I have had zero issues ( knock on wood) and I did my first oil change at 200 miles, and will do another this week.

In light of the engine issues, I want some coverage, which option would you choose?

Thank you for your input in advance. Dan

I opted for base care, covers some other common failure points like a/c and alternator. Everyone has diff risk tolerances though, so gotta go with what you are comfy with.

Guy a work had an extended warranty (not Ford's) on his F250. His truck wouldn't start one morning. Had it towed to the shop. Turned out to be an electronics/computer issue which was not covered in his plan. He had to pay out of pocket, and it wasn't cheap.
Your call.

+1 for Base Care for all the reasons mentioned here.

Went with 8 years and 75k miles from Anderson Koch as they had the best price at the time.

Read all the fine print and ask questions... Is this ESP Warranty in effect AFTER the new car 3/36 and 5/60 Powertrain has expired OR is it an ESP Warranty that runs concurrently with the existing 3/36 or 5/60? Some ESP's start as of the vehicle purchase date and do run concurrently - not many sellers of such warranties will tell consumer that fact.

The Ford 5/60 Powertrain covers quite a bit, not many owners read up on this either... but are sold ESP's that cover the same components.

The bigger question should be:
Will you run out at miles or years first with any Warranty? An Extended Warranty (any) won't be beneficial to anyone if the car is mostly garaged and sees limited miles - so even though you may have limited miles 5 years goes by quick too... and still ends the warranty.

If the ESP runs concurrently with the 3/36 or 5/60, then get the one with the longest length of coverage - such as a 7/100 or 8/120, whatever may be the most current plan.

Also when buying any warranty, it's not always important at what it covers, it's what the plan does NOT cover. HVAC, head/tail lamps and electrical components are the biggest ticket items aside from Powertrain that are the most expensive cost of repairs today with modern vehicles.

I would suggest shopping around. I got a PremiumCare 8yr / 60k mile plan under $3k in July.

Zeigler, Flood, Anderson Koch, Two Rivers (where I purchased) may have better pricing.

Great stuff, thanks.

I should have said that my 5 year runs out in early December, so it will only be concurrent, if I buy one for a short period of time.

As for miles vs. years, I'll never ( never say never) put 48K on this car. What I am buying is engine peace of mind. I may own it for many more years, but I am guessing that at 62, I will not own it into my 70's, I hope I do, but probably not.

I am going to re read the responses, to glean every point. Thank you very much! I am leaning to the full 100% coverage, 2K does not affect my life style, and having Ford finance it with no interest, is juicy. I did contact Zeigler today, they require full payment , in one lump sum. Plus, Ford has put it in writing that it is transferable, which is really nice.

I got a Premium care 8yr 100K mile package with $100 deductible and the interior/exterior light package last December. Car had 4500 miles on it at the time. Was $1415 from fordfloodesp.com

Pretty much covers everything for the next 8 years, and figure 12K a year, but am averaging about 6.

The ESP does nothing during the 3/36, and kicks in where the powertrain doesn't cover. buying early when new makes all the difference. $1400 is a pittance for full coverage.
