No doubts that a lot of rear hubs failed
Mostly driver side
The question is why did they fail ?
On my 17 it was because the nut got loose
I replaced both rear hubs with ford performance extended studs hubs and with the correct torque and jam nuts, had no issues for the past 5 years of tracking the car with 305 nt01
What kind of jam nuts did you get?

OP Mustang sells them.
I just put on a second set of axle nuts, tightened to ~ 80-100#.
If there is enough space for a second set of axle nuts, I might reuse the old one as a jam nut.

I checked opmustang but unfortunately it's 50$ shipping + import fees to my location. A bit steep for 2 simple nuts so thanks for the tip.

It's a very fine thread so it's not easy to source. OEM nut is the quick solution.

Hello; When we replaced the hub/rotors on my brothers F-150 pickup i am pretty sure at least one hub nut was reused. Not clear from memory why. maybe he lost the new one. Anyway the 36 mm nut was reused. Pretty sure we coated the threads with some Loctite, likely blue.
I get why those nut are called single use as they had a nylon band which deforms when tightened down. That job was well over a year ago. Just saying, but do what lets you sleep at night.

When you say 36mm nut, you meant that you needed a 36mm socket to remove it, not that the nut id, axle od , is 36mm ?

Hello; Correct the nut required a 36 mm socket. May be very different from the Mustang.

2015-2017 or so the Ford hubs were not holding up but they’ve revised the specs and use very different axle nuts now. I replaced a bunch back then but the current parts are holding up much better. Get the hubs from Ford.

also depending on your model and year, theres a thrust washer in there which is a different part number. You’ll have to do a search. People will disagree about if its a good idea or bad idea to run without one. IIIRC the GT350s run without, but thats another part which was revised over the years (it got thicker).

i just send the 1/2” dewalt ugga dugga on full send and when it stops turning, its torqued enough. Not usually a good game plan but for these it seems to work.

Hey Walt
They are metric
20x1.5
Thickness: 10mm
If you can’t find them in Europe, I have some extra that I could mail you
Thanks luc that is very kind of you. Customs might still charge me 30$ to do the paperwork even if it's a "gift" so I'll have to look into it.

I read somewhere else that it's M22x1.5 but maybe that is for the front? I'm gonna check the hardware store first if they have these of quality steel. I found some earlier but they were meant for indoor use.

My 2017 already had the newer style axle nut. I've ordered new + the thrust washer and new hub bolts. Dealer wanted 40$ for that stupid washer so it better be important.

I would return the washers and get my money back. They are just a failure item.

I don't use the washers but torque like I said above and second jamb nut. Add paint pen witness marks. I also smear thin layer of never seize to prevent rust inside the hub face.

Mine haven't moved in two track seasons.
