  1. Coolant flush on Ecoboost engine

The heater not getting hot probably means there is air in the heater core. Not sure if you can do anything about the amount of coolant that comes out the car. To avoid air in the system I'm planning to use an airvac system. I've already bought a tool (oemtools 24444) for this. Since air can...
  2. Coolant flush on Ecoboost engine

I've replaced all the other fluids on my Mustang but it's the first time I'm doing coolant on any car. The stock coolant is about 7 years old now and has seen some heatcycles from track driving so I figured it's a good idea to replace. Is it as simple as : 1. draining the old fluid from the...
  3. Track pads to get back into trackdays (HPDE)

Are you happy with the calipers? Did they arrive in like new condition? I looked on RockAuto and I noticed it said "remanufactured". I'm not sure what to expect of that I'd rather not have used brake equipment. The internals are supposed to be new but is the outer casting worn down or something?
  4. Track pads to get back into trackdays (HPDE)

Yeah Cali is much like Europe regarding automotive laws I heard. If it doesn't have some kind of stupid certification it isn't allowed. I can't speak for all events but the ones I go to are for road registered cars and they do tend to care about their cars and don't do dumb things. I've never...
  5. Track pads to get back into trackdays (HPDE)

Oh that's great thanks for letting us know. I couldn't find the rotors locally yet but that might be due to the Ecoboost models no longer being available in Europe and the GT cars come stock with the performance pack. So no 4 pot calipers for us anymore. (Ford had to either drop the Ecoboost or...
  6. Track pads to get back into trackdays (HPDE)

Yes if you already have the 6 pot brembo calipers, I think it can definitely be worth it to get 2 piece rotors. The savings you get by being able to reuse the core might pay for itself in the long run. But upgrading to a 2 piece rotor for the 4 pot calipers seems a bit like a waste if for the...
  7. Track pads to get back into trackdays (HPDE)

Yes it's definitely amazing living 2-3 hours away of Spa, Zandvoort and the NĂĽrburgring. If it weren't so darn expensive I would be driving there every weekend! The law makers here don't like modified cars though so as a car guy it can be hard to make things work sometimes. I'm jealous that...
  8. Track pads to get back into trackdays (HPDE)

I think it should solve the issue because you can then properly cool down the brakes. The thing is, those cost as much or more than an upgrade to the 6 pot calipers so it makes very little sense to do in my opinion.
  9. Track pads to get back into trackdays (HPDE)

I might just try the 4 pot calipers with track pads like you said, and if I outgrow those I'll take my chances with the 6 pot calipers. I doubt that I'll be able to sell the 4 pot calipers though as these cars are rare where I live and they all come with the performance pack from the factory...
  10. Track pads to get back into trackdays (HPDE)

Hey, yeah that was my plan a few years ago as well before I took a break. The problem is that by law here we're not allowed to change the calipers, even if they are better than the original set. It would be a serious hassle to swap them every year for the technical inspection. Although...
  11. Track pads to get back into trackdays (HPDE)

Hi all, I have a 2017 Ecoboost with 4 pot calipers (and the inverted rotor design that can't be cooled properly) Since 2020 I took a break from track driving and want to get back into it. Before I just used my stock pads which glazed the rotors pretty bad and weren't up to the task anymore. I...
  12. Any luck homologating Magnaflow Street Street Cat-Back Exhaust (Ecoboost) in Europe?

I have the Magnaflow Street series installed, sounds great. I figured it's not too loud and looks stock-ish so I tried going to the inspection with it. It passed the emissions test, nobody was bothered by the volume, but at the end they had to fail my inspection because it didn't have a stupid...
  13. DIY differential fluid change aftermath

I didn't notice anything different vs stock fluid, the only reason I changed the fluid is because I track my car and with severe usage it should be changed annually. I couldn't find the stock fluid locally so I chose Motul 300 LS 75w90 which is probably a better fluid. It was only 30$ for 2...
  14. super cheap s550 brembo upgrade

What pads did you use on the track? The Powerstop z23 don't look like pads that will hold up at the track. Also do you like them on the street or do they fade too quickly after some pulls?
  15. DIY differential fluid change aftermath

I basically did the same using a bend piece of cardboard paper. The carboard was wet at the tip when inserted into the fill hole. It's probably fine then, just found it odd that I had to use 2 qts of oil instead of the recommended amount.
  16. DIY differential fluid change aftermath

Did you fill to the fill plug hole or just added the exact required amount? Since the manual stated that it needed to be within 9mm of the fill plug hole I was worried that I had put in too little so I kept adding until it was around that mark. FIgured that it could vary a bit, just like the...
  17. DIY differential fluid change aftermath

Within 9mm means at fill plug or 9mm below minimum to me too. I tried catching the stock fluid and measuring it, but I spilled some so it wasn't too accurate. I measured about 1.6 L (1.7qts). Good idea on getting the remaining oil out by using a fluid extractor, didn't think of that. I just...
  18. DIY differential fluid change aftermath

No they do not, they have some sort of orange thread locker but I didn't reapply that as the shop manual didn't mention it. This is how it looks when clean:
  19. DIY differential fluid change aftermath

I just changed my rear differential fluid (non Torsen) and thought I'd share my findings for anyone considering doing it yourself. First off a question to someone who has already done it before, the manual calls for 1.6 qts + 4 oz friction modifier. It also stated it should be 9mm within the...
  20. Upgrade to 6 piston Brembo or just get better pads?

As long as the dust isn't corrosive/harsh on the finish, I don't really mind since the stock pads for the 4 piston's dust a lot too. The dust comes right of though even when left for months so not an issue. If the DS2500 pads are like that too, I might use those instead.
