Closing speed kills, although this dude was lucky, but didn't obviously understand the concept.

I personally wouldn't do these kinds of speeds where there is traffic lights and things of that nature. These speeds should be limited to the highway.
Even on the highway someone traveling 100 mph may not react fast enough to avoid an accident they might be able to avoid at say.....75 mph

V^2 is the problem. Speed isn't linear. That said I think speed limits in this country are rather arbitrary.

Half the people on the road can't react fast enough at 20 mph let alone 75 mph.

The biggest point of this thread is that there are people out there, people on this forum, that think because the speed limit says 75 mph, they think its safe. Those same people think its insane to drive 80 mph because its breaking the law and of course the government knows what is "safe".

^This. If you understand physics, Force = Mass * V^2. This means that the force you feel in an accident at 100MPH is 80% higher than the force in an accident at 75MPH, despite the lowly 33% increase in velocity.

Incorrect. Time for you to take physics again.

F=ma

I think you're thinking kinetic energy, but wrong either way... (/2)

How in the world did we get here?

Hit a M1 Abrams going 100MPH =BAD
Hit a miata going 100MPH=NOT AS BAD

If you hit the drivers side of someones car at 75mph or 100mph, most likely you are going to kill the person in either instance.

This car was hit at 75 MPH, do you think its still safe to do the speed limit?

That will buff out no problem.

If people would honor passing only in the left lane many accidents would be avoided. The autobahn has only a fraction of our wrecks and car accidents but I feel after seeing some of these holiday drivers many are to special to do over 70.
