And if you haven't seen George Carlin's routine on "stuff," it's well worth a looksee. I didn't always agree with his politics but that sumbitch was IMHO, one of the funniest comedians of all time.
Love me some good George Carlin lines. Same with you, I don’t always agree with other’s viewpoints on things, but I still appreciate their skills/talents. That dude was one of the funniest people I’ve ever seen. He and Robin Williams are two of my fave comedians

When I did my wall-mount pressure washer last year, I made a number of selections with regard to fittings, hoses, reels, machine..............right down to the mounting hardware finishes. However, the only thing I didn't really get to choose was the 3/8 quick disconnect fitting on the end of the hose. In that regard, I had to settle for the standard issue Chinese-made stainless steel MTM fitting that was part of the package.

MTM STAINLESS STEEL QC SOCKET 3/8FPT (detailingshed.com.au)

Now, that fitting served its purpose, but felt somewhat lacking in finish quality, especially compared to the Mosmatic quick connect on my gun. When you consider this fitting is a $10.60 USD part, that kinda makes sense.

Shortly after my install, MTM released their new Prima line of USA made fittings. These looked much nicer, almost like the 1/4 Mosmatic used on the OG-spec gun. Now we are talking about a $19.99 USD part.

While I liked how it looked and felt, the lack of knurling made it difficult to use when wet. I also found the Prima fitting did not function very well with the more precise Mosmatic plug fitting used on the inlet of the Mosmatic gun, it really needed to be forced closed, which is not how these fittings should be work.

So, I now arrive at the Swiss made T304 stainless steel Mosmatic 3/8 quick connect fitting. Now we are talking about a $59.85 USD part.

Below - Chinese made MTM on the left, USA made MTM Prima in the middle, Swiss made Mosmatic on the right.

I was skeptical if I would feel the difference between the $60 fitting compared to the $10 and $20 alternatives, but I get it now. The downward movement of the Mosmatic is noticeably crisper and smoother. And mated to the Mosmatic inlet plug, its just a more precise feeling item.

So why didn't I get this fitting from the beginning? Because that particular Mosmatic fitting is specific to and only sold by Obsessed Garage. None of the local companies are able to have access to this part. So, my choice was limited to the Chinese-made MTM, then the USA-made MTM Prima. If the Prima had worked with the Mosmatic inlet fitting, I would have stopped there. So, three fittings later, I'm finally content.

The above is where the OG concept comes into the equation, as in not settling for "that'll do" mentality. The question would then be "why spend so much time, money and effort on a simple pressure washer fitting?". Because this is my hobby, what makes my world turn. I use my pressure washer a lot, and its something I enjoy using. It's therefore only natural for me to chase such perfection. Everyone has that hobby or interest in which they devote such obsession into. For me, that just happens to be cars and detailing.
I bought a set of McKillan’s quick connects a couple years back to replace the cheap fittings on my Craftsman power washer. Have held up well so far. Canadian made, so shout out to our friends to the north. Amazon carries them now, I bought them off a detailing website back in the throws of Covid.

I look at the OG business the same way I look at another hobby of mine. Collecting shoes. (232 pairs currently)

many many people assume the outlet malls of North America are where you get the best deals. Most of the time it's the worst if you get to collector levels knowledge of market and how and when other places go on sale.

The typical outlet customer doesn't know any better cause they haven't done the research and won't. To me OG is that. It's not an outlet it's just a business that has a specific customer in mind. I think cause we are car enthusiasts we approach it in same way versus his customer base that just wants what they want from him.

I don't hate the player I hate the league

Damn! What makes up a good chunk of the collection? A fair amount of Jordan’s in there?
Mostly running and casual sneakers like (Stan smiths) I'm 41 and jordans just don't do it for me anymore. Felt like I was looking like a trendy youth pastor so I sold most of them and probably get rid of the few j have. I only have room for one bad habit so lately all money goes to the Mach 1.

I hear you on the Jordan’s. I’m a few years older than you, so right smack in the middle of prime Jordan. I’ve had a couple of the retro pairs over the years and currently have a pair of the 1998 Finals edition. My son is really into the Jordan’s, he’s got several of the throwback editions. Being in Chicago and growing being a huge Jordan fan, I will probably always have at least a few pairs. He is the GOAT after all…

Geepers! And I thought I had problems "collecting" towels, detailing products, lawn mowers and chainsaws!

Changing subjects D. My gallon of Adam's APC is about empty and it's time to have a looksee at one of your possibly better choices..

..for example Green Star is my only APC

Actually, I have also tried Bilt Hamber Surfex, that stuff is amazing! It's certainly more expensive, but its also heavily concentrated, in fact you can use it right out to 200:1.
I have been using the Adam's product for many years and it has for the most part, accomplished the cleaning power I have needed.

BUT, as is so often the case with those who frequent this thread, the quest for "more better" is on my brain. <grin>

Therefive, I went a searchin' in your threads and found the two quotes above. The obvious next question is, of the two, does one result in better cleaning power than the other?

I read that you use GS on tires and Surfex sure cleaned the snot out of that OG Stihl so I have to assume they're both serious APC contenders. That said, much like your tree-cutting example with the electric Stihl where you had to move up to the "petrol" <warm smile> model for the trunk, I'm thinking it might be the same with GS vs. Surfex with GS being the "petrol version" APC? TIA amigo.

From what I can tell, at the moment only Carzilla in Canada sells Surfex. That will change soon, OG have become the official distributor for the US market. So, for now I would just order the 1-liter bottle of Green Star. Personally, I prefer Green Star as Surfex does have a more prominent chemical smell to it. Both are highly concentrated.

Green Star is my go to for sure. I did buy a liter of Gyeon APC a while back and mixed up some recently. It works really well, albeit a bit more expensive. GS is by far the most economical choice.. Got a free sample of Capro MultiX too, I like it as well, but not the price :)

Green Star seems to be unobtainium here in Oz at the moment, at least in the smaller quantities.

I've had a 1L bottle on order for six weeks now from carcareproducts. Other Aussie vendors remain out of stock as well, so perhaps this is a widespread supply problem at the moment?

I am keen to try GS as an additive to GSF.

GS is good stuff. You might try Carpro MultiX. It works really well, or Gyeon APC. I have used both of those and they work awesome. Just cost a few more dollars, here in the US at least...

Also, I skipped GSF and GS mix and moved straight to Multi Star, here in the US it's called MSN, but outside the US it's VB. It makes a fantastic pre soak, much stronger than GS and GSF mix. I use for wheel arches in my IK foamer and its fantastic...
