2016 GT with 35,000 miles. No repairs needed.

Two little paint bubbles starting to form on the forward edge of the hood that I'm not happy about.

But no mechanical issues.

I got a check engine light for a faulty knock sensor about 100 miles from the dealership after purchasing the car new two weeks ago. I have an appointment for this coming Thursday to hopefully get it replaced.

I bought a 2016 GT a few months ago without really considering the reliability of the thing. It's the first Ford I've ever owned and I remember being told a lot as a kid that American made cars are garbage in that regard. My wife who was my girlfriend at thr time bought a 2003 Taurus and it died since the transmission went out. That was my fault. I should not have trusted the sellers that it was maintained. I drained the transmission oil and about 3 months later thr gears couldn't touch each other as I took out all the metal slag. Anyways, I bought the GT at 42k miles and put on about 4k myself. Another 4k will put me at 50k. Yeah, it's my daily for now and will be for a few years. Glad I got the manual clutch, but I heard it's a terrible gearbox. It's the base model with almost no options. It has the Airaid intake and muffler delete. Previous owner also put 20 inch Nich rims. If I drive it hard in the power band, it still smells weird. Makes me wonder if the dealer did a rebuild on it...

So, what's your odometer at and what's broke so far?

2016 base GT

New transmission, clutch, tob, pilot bearing 19k
Timing chain tensioners 26k
Front main seal, water pump, belts 33k

She has been a needy bish. Currently have 39760k miles and about 1 year left on powertrain time wise. Paid it off 6 months ago so unless she completely shits herself, I will continue to take the payments and stash it away for a transplant. I hate her but love her more.

Brand New in April 2019. MT82
8400 miles and two painful dealer services.

The only thing broken so far is my pride for said serving.

Sees WOT at least once any time I drive.

And it's not my daily. YMMV

My 96 GT 248a daily?

245k
Second clutch
Stock Alt, WP.
On its second set of plugs since I bought it with 95k
Bulbs

Oh and less chips and scratches than my '19.

Not to be a spoil sport, but I for one have some questions about current quality control.
I knoe what you mean. My 2012 Si had less chips than this Mustang. Would a nee coat of paint from a reputable paint shop help?

Take it to the dealer - Ford extended the body corrosion warranty for '16+ cars to 5yrs. Mine is in the shop right now ('16 GT w/24k mi) getting a new hood due to corrosion on the leading edge.

Only other issue I have had is AirConn related, but not the common condensor failure. The schrader fill/check valve corroded and lost the charge, was a quick warranty fix. Otherwise she has been perfect

5000ish miles the MT-82 went out - had a new trans put in from a 2019 GT on the lot since this was during the huge back order on shift forks and full transmissions from Ford.

I'm likely going to have to take it in for oil consumption issues soon. When I did my last change I was 1.5 qts low. I'll change it this weekend again and if I am more than a quart low I will start an inquiry with them on the oil issue.

I love the car though so these are minor annoyances. Its not my daily driver and it runs great.
You check the oil..how he hell do you get to the dipstick?
I have a convertible and it is buried under the bracing, I can't get my hand in there.
Should have been made 10 inches longer.

Only thing so far in 4+ years of ownership was the a/c evaporator which was replaced under warranty at about 30,000 miles.

all issues resolved through warranty:

new axle and seal passenger side

new plugs in cylinders 2 and 5 due to flashing CEL which showed misfires in these cylinders

just had another CEL last week due to EVAP system throwing P0457 code, dealer found leak in system at EVAP purge valve under hood. cleaned out and re fastened and told to monitor

paint chips all over as my car is a daily and Ford really skimped out on the paint thickness of these newer vehicles.

Do you have extra bracing under the hood? Mine isn’t too hard to get to. The strut tower brace gets in the way some times but it’s not too prohibitive.
