Just curious to hear what the GT people are putting in their cars. You going with the synthetic blend like the manual says or full synthetic for longer periods?

I was going mobile one with a extended life filter on my S197 every 10k or 10 months (I only drive about 7K in 10 months). But it occurs to me that if I don't want warranty issues I should stick with the manual service intervals.

You might need to reread the manual if you think it says synthetic blend every 3k miles. I'm using full synthetic once a year. I don't put a ton of miles on my car. Did first oil change at 1k with Motorcraft synthetic blend at dealer and switch to pennzoil ultra recently.

I believe the owners manual states 10k miles/1 year/OLM hits 0%.

Sorry I should have clarified - My manual says synthetic blend every 3-5K under extreme conditions.

Now whether you agree or not every dealer in Arizona will tell you to follow the extreme service intervals. But that's a whole other debate...

Just curious to see what people are using and how long between changes. I'm surprised the manual still calls for synthetic blend.

Syn blend at the dealer.

Had the first oc done at 3000 miles and awaiting the second , currently at 7200.

I want to just change it myself but that belly pan and mess though...but $75 at the dealer blows as well.

Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5W-20. Been using it for almost 30k and did UOA on two of the changes with excellent results.

I usually run Royal Purple with K&N oil filters. Had excellent luck with that so far. I have enough of the Royal Purple around that I even use it in my lawn mower. lol.

The transmission on the wifes Explorer (auto) is running amsoil though.

Ow-40 castrol made in Germany. On sale now at Walmart for $22.

This is good if you are running e85 and reving your car over 7k.

amsoil signature series, if you don't want to fork out the big bucks on oil, use Pennzoil ultra. 5w-20, motorcraft filter

If you gonna hit the 10000 mile interval, you should get better oil like the MC full synthetic. For me, mine will never exceed that amount in a year so the MC synthetic blend will do just fine.
Realistically, these engines are so well engineered, they don't get very picky on oil.
