The tick is nothing like I had in the 18.. It was constant, cold start, hot didn't matter, this one comes and goes when hot, never during idle or on start, kinda strange.. Anyways.

Alot of you are giving some good advice. I think you are right, if anything stick with he FP power pack when released, at least the dealer said it would still be warrantied.

I don't understand this fascination with "bbq" tick... You are hearing a combination of injector tick and lifter tick. DI motors are known to be noisy.

I forgot, all the interweb engineers know everything, and everything on the internet is true.
I don't know, thats not what ford hotline has said it was and not what another mechanic I know thinks either. I'm not concerned about it as of now, unless it got much worse. I only really here it when lightly accelerating at a drive through, other than that it's quiet. Definitely not injector tick, that ticking is very obvious.

What was this process like getting into that 2019? I am considering this. I have the tick all the time at 13k miles. Who did you talk to first and how did this process go? What did they do to assist you in getting out of the car?
Ford threw in 6k or so on top of what the dealer was giving for the trade in. Was approved by the regional csr rep, it probably cheaper for them to do this than to replace the engine, the assistance pretty much took me right to what I owed on the car, rolled over quiet a bit on the stang loan, so I made out.

Process was started with an open case with regional csr when I caught dealer blowing smoke up my ass.

Only car = leave the powertrain alone and do other mods.... my .02. Really not worth the headache for a handful of HP especially if it isn't tracked. FWIW, mine is tracked, I have a reliable DD and I still sometimes regret modding. Mine never had any noise but developed the BBQ tick at 42k after a lot of hard driving and somewhere between 300-400 1/4 passes- yep, I probably had it coming so no real complaints here :/

Leaving it stock (or close to) is probably your best bet. If you really have the urge for modifications, want to keep your warranty and back roads is your cup of tea, I’d probably lower it with FRPP and call it a day. Although it is a pp1 car, the factory suspension leaves something to be desired.

I wouldn't be able to get past "THE TICK" and I'd get rid of that car somehow.

He did get out of the one that had it "really strong". One he is in now seems like it's definitely 'lighter' and I'm in the camp of not near as big a concern.

I still maintain keeping it under warranty until through warranty, or another DD is obtained, then let the wallet go on it.

My dealer is OK with the Roush Power Pack provided the dealer installs it and will still warranty it (without me buying the additional coverage from Roush).

It may be a happy medium until we get a second car.. 24 rwhp and 14lb ft torque.. not much but I guess beats nothing?

Problem is, there is nearly no reviews on the Power Pack from the 18/19 and not much on the 15-17's... I would hate to drop 1 grand and be disappointed.

I have been wanting to do the Roush Power Pac pretty bad because Ford Performance has been stuck in CARB approval Hell with their tunes since the summer. I'm pretty tempted to do it but like you, haven't seen any reviews. They also don't sell the tune separate either so you can't just buy the CAI to see how it goes, then buy the tune...sucks. If your dealer is backing it, pull the trigger.

I wonder why so few reviews? Gains on 93 oct on par with custom tuners .. maybe a few hp less, if that but you keep your warranty .. Only reason I see to go custom is for e85 or if its heavily modded.

Not sure whats up with fords, I can't imagine carb approval is this long.

I think I will pull the trigger with the roush

Once you get it installed, would love to hear/see the review. I'm probably right behind you. I don't have plans to boost my rig and while E85 is a good route, I'd rather stay on normal 93. My luck, the second I get it installed, FRP will come out with their packs and the bitterness will ensue.

I have a 2016, but am trying to keep as much of my warranty as well. You can do what I did such as a no-tune intake, x pipe, exhaust, suspension, weight reduction, etc. and still retain your powertrain warranty. I would avoid tuning the car or anything that may cause them to deny any powertrain warranty claims. With the Ford Power Packs you do keep the warranty but it reduces the warranty period. You can also get an extended warranty from Ford. I'm going to buy one before my bumper to bumper is up this summer. For like $1400 it will cover just about everything on the car for 8 years or 100,000 miles, they also offer cheaper options which cover less. I'm more focused in handling than 1/4 mile times so stock or near stock power is more than enough for me....however if you're looking for 1/4 mile times you'll probably want a tune, etc.
