That's just the wire that connects the left wire to the right wire. Should be ok.

I've had mine for 2 weeks, saw the connector and it made me curious. Thought for sure some internet searching would yield an answer, nope. Haven't tried to trace it as it goes back towards the air box then down below I think. Yours looks exactly like mine. Hack looking electrical tape over a black wire shield. It's so hack that I thought the dealership did something to the car before I bought it. I feel oddly better now.

bumpity bump this thread. Someone must know by now, right?

Still haven't found what it does, but after I read this thread and saw others with the same I stopped looking for an answer as it must be normal. Mine is also a PP w/ 401A, and has the hood vent turn signal.

That looks like what I have except mine does not have any tape or tubing on it. It is literally just a wire that goes out one side of the connector then back into the other side. What on earth could that be for? If it were for a missing accessory, I would think it would just be a blank plug but the way this is setup, I imagine it would be an instant short if it needed to power something so I assume it isn't for that.

Or possibly the hood pistons that raise the back end of the hood in a pedestrian incident (export models to conform to EU crash requirements)

How would the car know you hit a pedestrian?

Snarky answer? It's a Mustang. It's assumed.

Actual answer? Various low speed sensors.

That would be the christmas tree mod plug.

Unplug it, and go do burnouts.
