Took my car to a dealership which I bought my car from for a water leak and the the pinging /clanking noise that everyone knows about when going from park to drive. They said they didn't hear anything weird. Well my dash camera caught one of the techs driving my car around. I guess he was trying to find the sound through driving? My car is an automatic, so you can hear him going from normal mode to sport mode back and forth along with neutral to rev the engine whenever he gets a chance along with punching the pedal whenever he gets a chance as well. In one of the videos, I hear a weird noise that's freaking me out but they didn't tell me anything about it. Anyone have a clue what this noise is?

Weird sound is around :50 seconds

Sounds like the dude clonked his head on the side window to me. I wouldn't worry about it.

If only that was that was the case but it was definitely something he did as you can see him pull over to the side and turning on the emergency lights right before it happened. It sounded like metal hitting against metal to me.

Calling out OKC #1 spot after axle back install.
Sounds like the shifter changing gears, nothing to worry about.
He may of hit 3k rpm when he hit 40mph. Not rlly ragging on the car imo.

Just wondering what it was. That video was just a 1 minute version of the actual 8 minute or so drive. He peels out, does hard launches many times, puts it in neutral going highway speeds and starts revving the engine along at slow speeds as well and lights. You hear him saying "this is fast" in the background when he launches it hard and couple other comments about the exhaust.

Honestly, it sounds like he may have readjusted the seat angle. I know if you lean forward to give it room to flip towards the steering wheel and just pull the lever it flies forward like a rocket. At least mine does.

Sounds like the seat catching after he released the lever to me. After driving it for a few seconds he may have realized it wasn't too comfortable to drive and pulled off onto the shoulder to do some quick adjustments before he continued on driving.

Seat recline locked back into position. Mine does this all the time after adjusting the seat or letting my daughter into the back seat. I'll be driving and all of a sudden with up an incline or upon acceleration the seat locks back. The latch system slips easily on these cars. My wife's does the same. As for ragging on the car that's not even close he was driving slowly and pretty cautious the whole time. He didn't even get over 49mph.

Edit you should have put up the full video if commenting on ragging on the car we don't see any of it in this video.

If he was peeling out, romping on it, and doing hard launches I would talk to the General Manager at the dealership. Unless you brought it in to test the Line Lock or Launch control, it sounds inappropriate.

I know of a similar experience where a dashcam picked up two techs going out on a test drive. They talked about possibly "blowing up the car", and one of them verbally pointed out the presence of a dashcam.

In that case, they didn't do anything awful so no harm no foul, but it demonstrates that the dashcam, if conspicuous, can be a good deterrent.

One thing to consider, you may want to tread carefully posting these dashcam videos.

In some states you need consent of all parties to record audio of an individual.
It's possible running a dashcam and recording in a car can run afoul of these laws. Just having the dashcam sitting there does not equal consent. Different states vary. Usually falls under wiretapping statutes.

Oh, I see. Never heard my seat make that sound before though. My dash cam records each video at 1 minute each so I would have to upload 8 videos. Didn't think anyone would want to go through 8 videos and I don't know how to edit to combine them.

It was a dealership with many friends there and I didn't really want to start trouble with them and my main concern was the sound.
