About to order either a GT premium or base, same options on either. Auto, recaros, 3.55, 18 inch wheels(going aftermarket). No other options. What is the approx weight penalty by ordering the premium? TIA guys, this forum has been a tremendous help!

Well the base weighs 3705lbs and a fully loaded premium with the PP package came in at 3810. So there is only 105lb difference which most would not even feel. But the PP package I would guess weighs about 60 of those 105 lbs, so you would only be looking at about a 45lb increase. You would never be able to feel that. So if money isn't a issue, premium would be best.

Yea an aftermarket exhaust will make up 30 of that. Anyone know how much weight the recaros save?

I'm thinking about the same thing, base vs Premium, both with PP. I wanted base to get the lightest car possible, but have to have the PP. Ordering the Recaro seats would save some weight. Another point is only the premium has the driver mode select switches, which I've not heard anyone say if they make any difference. Which has me thinking now get the most basic premium with PP and Recaros.

I heard the weight for the base GT is even lower than that and consequently the weight savings from the premium is even more. There was a poster in the forums here which spelled it out a few months ago. Its more like 200 lbs

Why would Ford lie about the weight and put a heavier weight if it was actually lighter?? I read that post and was just speculations. If Ford had a lighter weight, they would of listed it.

I dont presume to say they lied. But they never came out and said exact weights by model precisely. That poster laid it out pretty well and gave good justifications listing out components that added the incremental weight.

Went over a truck scale yesterday and it registered 3980. Car was just telling me I was low on fuel and I weigh about 220. That puts a gt premium at 3760 with around 2 gallons of fuel left.

Ford currently has this on their website:

Fastback Convertible
V6 Manual 3526 3697
V6 Automatic 3530 3696
EcoBoost® Manual 3532 3692
EcoBoost® Automatic 3524 3701
GT Manual 3705 3872
GT Automatic 3729 3893

I test drove a base ecoboost auto, and the build sheet listed shipping weight as just over 3400 lbs.

Also, I'm astounded that the manual weighs more than the auto...but only in the EB...even though they're all the same trans...

The MT-82 in the GT is slightly different compared to the MT-82 in the EB, no?

Yep those pretty little switches make a pretty decent difference. I play with them pretty much every time I get in the car

What other options do you have? 401A? Recaros?

If those numbers are accurate, Racaros + removal of the suitcase could get you in the 3600s which is not too bad.
