Great discussion here guys! A typical addition to our intercoolers is a drill/tap location on the tank for the installation of meth injection. This is not a pre-drilled port, however it is a portion of the cooler with a thicker wall which is suitable for creating some nice threads. A few of our most recent coolers utilize this feature, as shown below.

11+ GM Duramax Intercooler

15+ WRX Intercooler

We are also working on development of a Mustang EB intercooler. We are hoping to incorporate a bung of this type into the end tank of our cooler. Is this something you guys see as a valuable feature?

Thanks
-John
I like that. totally will be using w/m and having a spot to drill and tap for an 1/8" NPT on the outlet of the IC would be great.

I'm considering just getting a simple Snow Performance kit.
yeah I spoke to a local tunner today, does all Boosted LS cars, and he has a Focus ST (well his sons car) and has a Cobb OTS tune with a basic W/m and swears by it. He's not dug into the tunning on it but the car never has problems with timing or fueling.

really has me interested in what the EB will do with the same.

Please let us know what you think after you have it up and running. I have seen many report good results with the Snow kits and others but to have some added control IMO go with at least a progressive kit. Good luck and hope to hear good things after your installation.

I said I'm considering, baha.

I'm holding off on mods until some drag strips open back up.

Look me up if you go to Northstar. I live just down the road.

As for me, I don't do straight lines. Autocross and track days for me.

That'd definitely be a fantastic addition, and would set your intercooler apart.

Seeing as the Focus ST still hasn't fully fought through the fueling issues with the time they've had, it seems that turning to alternative solutions will be the best option as of right now. So, alternate fueling sources like Water/Meth seems like a very strong option. If an intercooler had the ability to have a water/meth port in it, I would definitely choose that one.

Thanks guys! We will be posting about our development progress early next week. This feature is very likely to be included.

That is my exact position now. I've got the Cobb tune, DP in the mail, waiting for ATP to release their IC. So with all these mods, I'm wondering if I should do the WM last and get a custom tune to tighten everything up? I'd rather do the WM before the IC but need a clear path a to follow.

the smart path would be intercooler first..

then dp, then tune.

then decide on WM.

beers

Meth/Water AND IC?

I just ordered a meth water injection kit (sprays into the turbo inlet). I've researched the pros and cons for a month so I know it's what I want to do.

My question is this: Do I still need to buy an aftermarket IC? I know the meth/water injection will reduce my temps enough to not need an aftermarket IC to maintain temps, but what about airflow? Does the stock IC restrict airflow to the point that not enough air is making it to the turbo, even it's being cooled at the turbo?

A few different vendors have reported that the stock IC causes PSI drop between the turbo and the TB, can't remember the exact numbers, maybe someone else can chime in on that, so I would think it's safe the say the IC has some flow bottlenecking.

Also, just curious on what research you found that supports spraying in at the turbo inlet? Would really like to check it out, especially since most people here are talking about post-IC installations to avoid any build-up in the turbo or IC.

Figured id bump this. Anybody running a kit yet? tuners that are running one want to comment?
I also wonder if an upgraded ic is necessary with a meth kit if all I want is low 12's at the track.
