So I am thinking about picking up a Bluetooth OBD scanner since I think it would just be nice to have, and I have amazon gift cards to use.

Does anyone know if the ecu will report the actual oil temp? I ask because my last car, a big turbo focus st, the ecu used inferred data from sources like load, coolant temp, etc to kind of calculate oil temps (I was using a Cobb accessport to see what the ecu thought it was at)

I'd go for the obd link MX from scantool.net. It's only 79.00 and far better than the Bluetooth elm 327 clones on eBay. Forscan may show you the oil temp if it's available and Forscan has the pid for it

I'll have to check that one out, it looks solid. I was looking at the BAFX scan tool with the torque pro app as I know that one will display the oil temp pid.

My main question is if the pid displayed would be the actual oil temp, or inferred from other data? Just kinda wondering, as I'll probably pick up an obd scanner either way lol

I have the Scangauge 2, and will have to see if it displays actual temps.
