GT- Given that PP cars have better cooling do you think they are "mapped" different so the ECU reads it differently and thus will record lower temps on the oil temp gauge?
I really don't know ... but guess it's possible if Ford's inferred oil temperature model takes that into consideration. If so, I think you'd only see a difference on the track because the coolant system thermostat controls the coolant temperature on the cool side of the radiator (which is where the oil cooler gets fed coolant from), and just cruising around town I doubt the thermostat is wide open, so it's able to control the coolant temperature without requiring a bigger radiator.

The oil temperature should be the same on all Mustangs under normal conditions, because all apparently use the same thermostat (probably a 195-deg unit), and all also have a coolant-to-oil cooler/heater, which maintains a pretty constant oil temperature too. My new oil temperature gauge parked itself at 200-deg driving normally, so that seems to be the norm. The difference with a larger radiator comes when car is driven hard, where a PP1 car will see a lower temperature rise than a base car. And the hotter outside, the higher the oil temperature will go. Even PP1 cars are not equipped to handle hot track days. You need more (or larger) coolers for that, like the Shelbys have.
I believe when you say "all Mustangs" you mean all V8 Mustangs. The Ecoboost uses a 180 deg t-stat and does not have an oil/water cooler. And as discussed in this thread and many others, you can add all the oil coolers you want, and it will have little impact on the inferred oil temp. The actual oil temp will go down, but unless you add a oil temp sensor and a real gauge (as it appears you did), you won't be able to see the lower oil temps (nor will your ECU, which can become a problem for HPDE).

Yeah, I meant all V8s; sorry. The good news is I don't plan to modify my car in any way, nor do any track days with it, so I'm fine with the 'inferred' gauge, which is what I put (the gauge pod from the GT350). But I'm baffled why Ford wouldn't put a REAL oil temperature sensor and gauge on at least V8s with PP1s and above. Turns out they even blocked the inferred oil temperature data so we couldn't even do it with FORScan on the digital dash. So stupid.
