I really try to be fair, I am a car guy too!

Sometimes I wonder if people on facebook appreciate the rigorous engineering processes it took us to design the ram air inlet for this car. The hundreds of hours of time spent test fitting, the dozens of production failures, the materials, the machine maintenance and calibration, the list goes on with development costs.

Then you got some smart ass on facebook telling me 'its just a plastic piece'... Thats like saying a ferrari is 'just a hunk of metal'.

We put aerospace level analysis software into this product.

I can't ever seem to please the haters :(

I was just laughing at all the people who wanted power numbers the second the product was released. It's not like you can dyno this thing. They all know that there is no way a mfg. can manipulate dyno results so those are gospel. You'll never make those people believe that this part makes a difference without pretty graphs.

I release the product and people immediately start with "OMG WHERES TEH DYNO LOL LAME PRODUCT"

I think those people dont really know what a ram inlet does, I had to patiently explain that the car needs to be going at least 60 mph for the ram intake to begin to boost air pressure in the airbox. There are no dynos that go 60 mph or wind tunnels I have access to, those things are millions of dollars...

Like seriously, do people not know what a ram inlet does?

The worst is when they were telling me, "THATS NOT GOING TO CHANGE MY INTAKE AIR TEMPS, NOPERZ..."

Dude, the device was designed to efficiently convert kinetic energy into pressure energy, its not a temperature controlling device, its a pressure controlling device. Goes in one ear out the other. What the hell am I supposed to do? :frusty:


EDIT: Forgot to add, you'll probably see a good reduction in IAT at low speed because it makes a seal against the stock flow path which keeps radiator backwash out of the intake for good. but thats not the point of a ram inlet!!!!

I was considering forming a sleeve out of kydex to keep the rubber end of the factory intake from collapsing at full throttle. This will save me that step.

We've been using 3D printers to make prototypes and it's a long process.

So many useless pieces that we printed because something was off.

It is 94 bucks but when you look into how long it took to design and test it's not bad at all.

Do you need a yellow car for photos?

Seems to me, that if the stock snorkel is partially blocked by the plastic fake strut in the GT grill, (and and shown in Post #1 of this thread), then this piece steps the air over towards the passenger side properly. That alone should improve the air intake.
