I read the manual and tried opening my door with the blade key.I figure better now than in a panic. I stuck it in the bottom of the handle ,pushed up and nothing happened The plastic cover seemed pretty secure. Has any one else tried this? I pushed up fairly hard but didnt go crazy trying to slide the cover off. I like to wait awhile b/4 breaking my new cars.
Any insight would be helpful.

While you are pushing with the key slide the cover right and out it should come off a little tricky but it does come off

I will try again. It's not exactly a straight forward operation. Why not an actual key slot that didnt require dicking around like this? In bad weather, dark, cold,Etc this would be a pia.

I can't get the key out of these FOB or SOB's as I can't get the blade out. Hope I never need it.

Using your fingernail, push the button on the back of the fob down, and, once it's down, pull that button away from the rest of the fob. The back of the fob will detach. Then, stick your fingernail underneath the key (the side that the fatter end of the key's head is on) and pull it outward, away from the rest of the fob along the long-axis of the key blade.

And hoping you'd never need it seems kind of silly; I've had at least a dozen dead batteries in my life, and have had to give people a jump... Jesus, I dunno, a hundred times probably?

That's just it, I keep my nails trimmed and my fingers are to big. And really I keep my regular key with me also, just need to go get a copy made or 2.

Now My Ram truck came with 3 regular keys and one more in each FOB that are easy to get out.

Thank you for explaining, but I still can't and my salesman tried to show me for 30 minutes, my fingers just ain't going to do it. I will just put my FOB's on a yearly change batteries every year my wife has a birthday.

Better use your own birthday. Most of the time women go 2-3 years without one.

My wife is my car born on my dads Bday, lot's cheaper and has only talked back once and slapped the crap out of me once. My truck is my mistress since I drive her daily.

wow thanks for taking the time to make the video, it's much appreciated, and i've always had this in the back of my mind just in case i needed to get into the car if the battery died.

i'd really like to view it now so please make it "anyone with the link" or "public" instead of "private"

:)

wow that helps a lot. didnt even realize the whole thing comes off. i thought it was just the top part of the cover that would come off, from what i can tell from the manual.
