I'll be back to my car in about an hour and will post an update. I have the extra glove box key in addition to the blade key from the other fob.
Yep, the glove box key is identical to the blade key except it looks like a normal key. Be sure to put your FOB far away from the car before doing the key unlock test with the alarm on.

Ok Guys.

Did some tests.

This only applies to vehicles with enhanced security package as I do not have another new mustang to test on.

Locking the doors via the fob or the ribs on the panel activates the alarm. This also locks the center console.

With the fob far away I removed the door handle lock trim cover and unlocked the door with the spare key. Both the blade and spare are identical minus the large plastic handle on the glove box key.

Upon entry the car begins to chirp and displays a message between the gauges that reads basically alarm activated, start engine to turn off. A few seconds later the horns begin to blare and the lights flash. This stopped once I grabbed the fob and hit the unlock button.

Additionally the gas tank and center console remains locked. It doesnt feel super secure but locked nonetheless.

Hope this helps. Now to find another blade.

Thanks! That's good information.

Side note: I was actually checking my car this afternoon, GT Premium Convertible (Enhanced Security standard), and with it locked, I can wave my hand around in the interior and nothing happens. I _thought_ there was some kind of interior motion sensors[?]

There is supposed to be. Not sure if it exists on the convertibles though. When I shut the car off, there is a message on the guages that allows me to choose "Security" and has 2 options "All Sensors" or "Perimeter".

There is a setting in Settings > Vehicle > Security with a check box for ask on exit. I can only assume if these things dont exist then no interior sensors exist.

The gas cap door locks too with the enhanced security option? I thought it was just the center console.

My dealer had to order a new blade key when I bought my GT because one of the FOBs was missing one. If you give the dealer your key code that came with your FOBs, then they can have one made.

Yep, check your menus settings for the security system. I think you can turn the proximity/motion sensors on or off.

The Premium GT convertibles get the enhanced security standard. It's set by default like you explained, where there's a "user prompt" when the car shuts down to select between All and Perimeter. I leave it set to All Sensors, lock the door, wait a few, then wave around inside of the car and it's just sits there :D

Maybe the motion sensors don't engage until the key fob is a certain distance away? Maybe not with the top down? Maybe mine are broke??

So many questions ... so few answers

Yeah, could be the FOB needs to be out of range of the car. Time for a test. :D

Yeah, tomorrow I'll check it out again. The little G is trying to go to bed (don't need my horn going crazy), and we're about to fire up Fargo (the TV series, so good ...)

UPDATE:

I got a hold of the car wash manager and while trying not to be accusatory he told me that he had the key. One of his employees told him they found it by the vacuum station.

Thanks for the info in the thread.

Did you have the fob in the interior with you? If so, I believe that all alarms are deactivated. My fob has to be at least a couple of meters from the car to be inactive.
