Makes me think that, hopefully, when OK to buy (which is tomorrow? 9/15?) they will be able to pump more and more out each day, used to problems/making it a smoother process for retail orders.

But I am concerned that Ford said only certain dealerships will have mustangs to sell. Either that means they still have a long ways to go on dealer stock, or they have built enough dealer stock cars and they just havent been shipped yet/are still being shipped to dealerships nation wide.

I've noticed most of the dealer stock my dealership ordered is now on "Awaiting Shipment"

Opinions?
There are a TON of dealer stock that have vins but not in production yet.... My guess, as it was stated or quoted from Ford that they wanted to give dealers an even chance at getting a mustang on the lots along with their allotment and sales considered... the highest grossing mustang dealers will be getting their cars first and the first round of dealer stock orders fullfilled in relation to their allotment. Given that there are a huge number of retail orders out that this forum is just a fraction of... Based on allocations and sales, order date and your priority, there is a good chance that retail orders will be waiting for quite some time. It may upset many but there is nothing anyone can do about it at this point but to wait and cross everything you can

Once ok to buy is given, retail takes priority over stock from everything I have read. So you are saying Ok to buy is possibly going to be a long ways off? Is that just an assumption based on an assumption?

I'm not so sure. I mean... around my dealer, there are only 6 or 7 mustangs showing up on inventory. I know they have more dealer stock than that, simply because all 4 dealers in my area sell for the whole state. So where are the other cars? Either they are not in production and waiting for the allocation cycle, or they haven't even been assigned a vin yet. If that is the case, I doubt the dealer would be happy when retail orders start piling up taking priority over stock orders, only leaving 1 or 2 on the lot to sell at MSRP.

That's my point, if ok to buy is today, since they go on sale at dealers that have them in stock that means retail orders start taking over? I mean if only a few dealers have them in stock then are the dealers just gonna have to wait till retail orders are done? Or do they just begin mixing in retail orders onto the production line along with more dealer inventory.

I checked on COTUS the dealers around me and only the EcoBoost cars they ordered are "Awaiting shipment" while all the GTs are still "In Production".....Not surprising, Ford is really pushing the EB!

Side note...I checked the dealer I have my scheduled test drive at next Thursday, and they don't show any 2015s on order....are these test drives with Demo cars that Ford is bringing around to dealers again? I thought maybe they would be on actual dealer stock cars. I don't care either way I just don't want to show up and only have a V6 to drive....or worse no 2015 to drive!

They are definitely pushing the EB!

According to the "what did you order" pole 80% are 5.0's.

usually for events like this, Ford will bring you a factory plated vehicle that dealer can have for a day or two before it goes to next dealer.

Local dealer near me was given the ok to buy today. Not sure how that factors in to cars actually being shipped but thats what I was told.

Shows that this is a performance oriented bunch of enthusiasts and NOT typical of Mustang buyers overall.

It seems like I remember from some past year sales numbers that the actual sales figures are just about reverse of that with 75-80% being 6 cylinders.
Somebody has a link to the actual sales numbers, I am sure.

Rather than Ford "pushing" the ecoboost, it is probably more of a situation where Ford is reacting to dealer orders and making use of the preordered components in the most efficient manner.
Just good planning and business.

Does anybody know if you can track all the cars based off a dealers code? there is only about 6-7 mustangs around my area on extended inventory search. That cant be right... I live in the capital of arkansas and have my order placed with the #1 dealer as well.

Just got an email from one of the dealers I'm working with in the Chicago area. He say they have 2 EB premiums and 3 GT premiums on order for stock. All fastbacks, no ragtops. 1 GT has PP and another has 50th AP. He said they expected a NOVEMBER delivery date. I was hoping to test drive both an EB and GT before I order a new ragtop.

When you pull up the inventory... they will only show the ones in production or awaiting shipment get the vin off the car and search using the wwwqa.cotus.ford.com then place it in there.... when it pulls up the car you can also see the order number and use your dealer code so let's say the order number was 6623 just use 6624, 5 6 or the other way and you can see what cars are ordered as far as dealer stock, for retail use your order number and do it the same way
