UPDATED MUSTANG DELIVERY TIMING ESTIMATE

I'm a bit confused. Some that reported they received a VIN last week reported Oct 6 build dates which if I count correctly is week 41. This Thursday is to schedule weeks 39 (Sept 22-28) and 40 (Sept 29 - Oct 5).

Were some of last week's scheduled orders place in later weeks due to parts availablility or some sort of common options grouping (paint color, GTPP, etc.)? Just trying to make sense of what appears to be conficts in the reports.

I would guess they are stock orders with high priorities. I still wonder why there is something in the wiki that says retail orders come before stock orders.

That is after the OK to Buy is given. No retail orders are done before OK to Buy

I will be ECSTATIC if I get my car before Thanksgiving. I'll be ok with mid-December. Anything after New Year's will be a disappointment, even though my dealer has been telling me "mid-January" for two months.

This is a good question, I haven't seen any scheduled for the week of 9/29 yet. Most of last week pulls were for 10/6, on 7/10 they scheduled a bunch for 9/15, and since then some have been pushed back to 9/22 but no 9/29's..

Maybe they are planning on building the retail orders at that time!

I feel like I heard someone say some months ago the Flat Rock line can roll off 800 cars when fully functioning in a day. Let's cut that in half to assume I'm wrong and to assume worst case scenario... 400 a day.

Let's assume based on our own poll here that we represent 10% of the retail orders. So let's now make that a number easier to work with... 4000.

So, just spit balling here, it is conceivable that all currently placed retail orders could be completed by the end of the first week in October.

Or have I totally missed something?

Highest reported number I've seen from the National Geographic Flat Rock video was 680 a day. Remember that they will still build Fusions and more than likely a few more Mustang convertibles for manufacturing checks. I don't think your 400 a day guess is out of line.

To date, about 14K orders have been scheduled. I cannot find numbers on how many have been built. I've been tracking Arizona orders on COTUS and so far I've found 67 built out of 274 scheduled with VINs or about 25%. If COTUS is up to date, and we use the 25% figure, there are about 3500 cars ready to go.

The earliest "bucked" date on the AZ bound cars is 9/25. There have been 15 production days including that date, so that would make Mustang production average about 233 per day so far. More than likely the week of 9/25 started out with a smaller rate and it has been ramping up since then. It could also be that COTUS is not up to date and there are actually more built cars than my estimate.

But I am concerned that Ford said only certain dealerships will have mustangs to sell. Either that means they still have a long ways to go on dealer stock, or they have built enough dealer stock cars and they just havent been shipped yet/are still being shipped to dealerships nation wide.

There are 3500+ dealers waiting for the new Mustang. To have cars show up at each one on the same day would be a logistical feat and very expensive, it won't happen. Just like any new car or truck, they will trickle out and continue to trickle as the year goes on. You won't see every color and type on one lot. Someone has to be first, they are the "selected" or select dealers spread out across the US. There is no list to be shared, it will be up to the dealer to get the word out "when the car arrives"
