This. Convertibles will get VINs on 10/16, so we hear. Their build weeks will be 11/9, 11/16, etc. That doesn't affect those with VINs.

Hopefully it's the way I understood it, and coupes, along with convertibles, will get scheduled (receive a VIN) on 10/16, and will have build dates of 11/9 and 11/16, as well.
Hey Trooper, if I give you my VIN can you confirm my build date? My dealer tells me 10/13 but I would like to confirm it.

I'm 85% sure this is true. However, Free Agent, this is just more cars and allocations to compete with for your VIN. tell your dealer that he better not even THINK about putting a convertible order in for his allocation when he still has yours.
Well I may have an "ace" in the hole so to speak. Currently I have a priority code 02 which evidently my dealer has talked to his zone rep and they have changed my code 10 to that 02. I'm hoping this is the case and I believe my dealer is advocating for me. Whether or not this is enough to secure me a VIN scheduled on 10/16 or not I don't know. If it does I am going to happy and I have a lot of thank you's to hand out. If I'm still stuck waiting I may as well give up. I'm hoping Ford thinks long term here, I could be a lifelong Ford customer from this point on or I just go elsewhere. I hope they come through for me. This waiting game just for a VIN is the biggest turn off. :( I'm still clinging to hope as Rachel has been great and my dealer seems to be advocating for me. The ball is in Ford's Scheduling court, I hope they don't screw the pooch.

Is there reputation really that bad? I was told that they already placed orders for a few people and it would be no problem. They also told me the xplan is no problem either and that any rebates available in addition if at all would be ok too. I don't see how they could squash an order on a car like this anyway because right now it's not like there's 30 of them sitting on their lot like a ford focus. I'm also not trying to get the car earlier anyway I actially want the car in April/May. Last time I went to Sayville Ford I walked their lot looking at 14s for a good half hour 45 minutes and never was approached by anyone. Maybe I should go back though?
Yeah they also turned on the xplan too, said they would only take it for off the lot. Of course things are different now cause they don't have any in stock but they will when you come back to buy yours so who knows. Anyway it's always good to go to 2 or 3 places anyway.

I heard all production has stopped for fast backs for the start of convertible production. It really sucks!
That is not what I heard.... ford Service on Twitter said that Convertibles will be thrown into the mix with scheduling on the 16th not only convertibles... That means the coupes will still get the vin and assigned build weeks

Crazy when the best news you've heard all day is the status quo. ;)

What Ford told us in the confrence was convertibles 10/16, nothing about fastbacks.

Sorry Free Agent. :(

You know I was actually thinking of going to the ford in southold because I have dealt with them before and they are excellent. Almost bought a 14 gt track packed from them but when I decided to go ahead and wait on the 15 they were very understanding. The owners actually believe heavily in customer service and everyone there is a pleasure to deal with. Only thing is that it is about an hour drive from me compared to the less than 10 minutes to smithtown ford...

That gets back to my original question though. What does "scheduling" mean to Ford. Is "scheduling" a build week(date) or is scheduling pulling an order and assigning a VIN?

Really it is going to be Ford's loss not mine if they jack around with my order for too long. I will end up with something else and probably never consider a Ford again. They really have a chance to earn a lifelong buyer with me. I am truly what my name describes right now. I'm a car buyer without a home, treat me right I can be your best friend, string me along and I may just leave. Too bad this seems a FANTASTIC car. I'm still holding out hope that an 02 priority may give me a shot at being assigned a VIN on 10/16. If that is the case then I will calm down. Until then I'm beginning plan B and am contacting some other dealers about another vehicle I'm interested in and will do so this weekend as well. Ford is giving me too much time to think with these delays. :(

Then I think y'all had better get the clarification.... I was told otherwise just 2 days ago

@Seabee1973 Thanks for hanging tight. I looked into your order; scheduling begins again on the 16th, but it's not only convertibles. ...

I sent Rachel(FordService) a PM today about some clarification. With all these questions she deserves a raise. I hope to hear back from her tomorrow. I just can't see FRAP just dropping everything for convertibles and ignoring fastback orders that will be backing up farther and farther with 2 weeks more delay. It would mean not scheduling VINS for fastbacks for a whole month(October). Makes no sense.

I don't see it either.... seriously and they know alot of people are already pissed.... i think they are going to get the early orders together (retail) and try to get them in the mix with the convertibles.... we already saw the production line pictures with the convertible in the middle..lol

BUT if the favor goes south on us... i am goint to be pretty upset.. i also don't know how much longer i can go for one i had set the preapproval for financing set but watching later placed rders than ours getting assigned and going into production.... extremely pissed off at that... more so on the regional orders that were place months n months after May... that part is absolutely wrong... and i don't care how much knob gobbling goes on with high profile dealers... its wrong... if I get shot down again... i will seriously continue on with my Audi and get a new one and end my ford relationship of 19 years... well ... a break from 2001 to 2006...lol but will seriously also look into Toyota, including the truck since my company is owned by Toyota. will be some nice incentives and the Tundras are built right here in Texas:headbang:
