Also know that you can get a Carlite Mustang Logo windshield up to two years after the car manufacturer date. So if it’s an ‘18 you can still get it done in ‘20. If it’s older than 2 yrs you might have to come out of pocket some amount. That’s standard.
its a 22. that's also why this is so irritating.

Yeah I know what you mean. I’m about to repaint the the hood (pitting) and my drivers side door. Someone thought theyd be cute and scratched the sh*t out of the door. It’s gonna be 1200 for both so I’ll grab that out of pocket.

Pay out of pocket, they will raise your rates as it is indeed a claim. I made same that mistake last year.

I’m speaking of a repair, not replacement.
Varies by state. At least in MA, there's no deductible on glass repairs/replacement and it doesn't add points to your policy. They did raise an eyebrow on my wife when she needed a crack repair plus 2 new windshields in less than a year. No additional charges, though.

I recently replaced my windshield with an OEM one at no cost to me…Insurance covered it all that’s why we pay for insurance.

In my situation it was a REPAIR at no cost, but it was listed as a claim in the “insurance database” as discovered when I changed carriers. For a windshield REPLACEMENT it would have been a no brainer to use insurance. The cost of the repair vs having a claim on my record was probably not worth using insurance. As stated I guess it varies by state or maybe even insurance company whether it is determined to be a claim or not

Who’s your carrier? They can’t do that by law. You can fight that.
Thanks for that info, I just changed companies and will contact my agent to ask if it’s something I can do. State Auto was the carrier but no longer.

Doesn't look like it's enough to even worry about. Wait until you get a real crack. This is why insurance rates are skyrocketing now.

Yeah if you read the thread you'd realize OP tried to repair it and did it wrong so now he has to go through insurance to fix his F'up.

Sounds like something you would say after screwing this up. If the chip is large enough to effect your vision then it's large enough to repair. Some people just aren't talented enough to make it happen. Don't beat yourself up. Plenty of people can't work on their car without screwing it up. Looks like you fall in that group.

For someone who didn't do anything wrong you sure get upset easy.

Well that’s not always factual. I don’t know how many chips through my years of glass replacement/repair did I come accesos a chip big enough to impair vision and it was a superficial hit and didn’t make a strong enough impact to be filled. It just chipped the very outer layer of the windshield and was completely unrepeatable the whole windshield had to be replaced.

Edit: to be more specific there has to be either a crack or a pocket on the windshield for the resign to be able to penetrate and be considered a successful repair.
