Your whole post comes off as argumentative.

First and foremost, this poll was SPECIFICALLY worded to ask about preference for a new GT500 (if one is made). Secondly, having more horsepower in a balanced chassis, with appropriate sized rubber AND launch/stability control, not to mention a possible (hopeful) inclusion of an automatic transmission (torque converter please) is desirable by a great number of people, myself included.

I don't believe anyone has advocated NOT having a N/A beast of car for the road racing fan. I am all for it, and genuinely interested in it myself.

Well that escalated quickly...

Back on topic, I would prefer supercharged. Don't have a specific reason, just because lol

Thanks for your well thought out contribution to the thread. :)

Anytime! I could also have gone the route of "both of them add horsepower, horsepower = fun, I like cars, let's put them both on and see what happens!"

Honestly though, supercharger, I like the instant power on all the time and no spool up or anything. At the same time, I've never driven a supercharged car or a high power turbo and I must admit my ride in a Buick grand national was ridiculous, I still would prefer the all power all the time supercharger route.

Guess that really depends. A properly set up twin turbo car, especially on a relatively powerful v8 platform, suffers no noticeable lag and with a boost controller is far easier to modulate power delivery that a roots type supercharger. Twin screws do not generally have as much immediate ( as in off idle torque (though a lower pulley overdrive does wonders to correct that on a Whipple or Kenne Bell) as the roots (Eaton) but has a longer power delivery in the low mid to high rpm range. I don't have a lot of experience with centrifugal style superchargers, like a pro charger, but from racing them It has been my experience they suffer down low but come on like gangbusters in the upper mid and upper rpm range. I think my interest innthe twin turbo setup comes from the joys of launching first a roots style Eaton and now an over driven Kenne Bell with a 6 spd at the track. Sometimes it's great, and sometimes it is clouds of smoke and going sideways ;

Yes.. & I agree.

Then someone got stuck on a sentence and confused v8 meaning always 5.0.. and how max hp is all that had mattered, etc.

I am anxiously awaiting to see the joint-venture trannys from Ford GM. Suppose to be 9 & 10-spd..!

A NA GT350 track car and a supercharged GT500 dragstrip brawler would make a good pair.

If you want a dragstrip brawler better to buy a base GT and add a blower than spend $60,000-70,000 on a GT500 equivelant.

I would respectfully disagree, With standard bolt on's a s197 base (since we don't know what or even if a s550 GT500 will have I can only use the previous generation as extant evidence) GT500 will hand a supercharged 5.0 it's lunch, driver being equal. Once you crack the motor and start upgrading internals, it becomes a question of who wants to spend the most money. Plus, there is absolutely a certain panache of having a "Shelby" branded Mustang, not to mention the other parts that make up the car.

However, I do agree on a dollar for dollar basis, the GT with auto is the more economical choice.

Supercharged. From a manufacturers standpoint, power delivery on a high-powered turbo car might not be wise to unleash on an avg person w/ a fat wallet....

That said, I'd take a turbo auto or blown stickshift.

Non-Cobra... I would rather take a bi-turbo v6.

But for something like the GT500..?
I would say Whipple 2.9 supercharger, on a 5.0 @ (adjustable) 600hp ~ 700hp. Fatter rubber and special suspension tuned for the streets. The focus being hi-po. I don't see the GT500 having the 5.2fpc.. ..that will be for those who hold out for the SuperSnake.. <--just makes sense.

Leaving the track oriented GT350/GT350s the only way to get that 5.2, quick rev'er...

MY2017 might bring DFI and spiral across the SVT paddock. Starting this whole cycle over again..

Personally for me I'd rather have a Turbo.. but I Bet money the Gt500 will have a supercharger.... Make near the same power or 685hp Tops... with wider tires..

if not that S/C with wider tires less power than the outgoing model, but a little more rev happy and better Fuel Economy.

I must be the only person in the world that doesn't like that blower whine. NA > TC > SC IMO.
You're not the only one! I'm there with you on that!

I had a Vortech on a C5 Vette and I even bought the "Quiet V2 T-Trim one" because I wanted the power with the least amount of whine. A KB or Whipple would make me Nuttier than I already am! :D

I like the turbos because they sound Great while coming into boost (like a fighter jet going into afterburner) and then a relatively pronounced blow off valve (Phsssssssssssh). No belts to break either.

Not to mention that they are fitted more easily with a programmable boost controller that can change the amount of boost, when the boost will come in at, boost by gear, boost by speed, etc (depending on the controller).

As far as R&D, it's going to be higher because of fitment issues with intercoolers and such, along with heat problems, packaging, etc. It's just more involved than putting a blower on it.
