Good question.Has anyone NOT been part of the recall and found the tensioner NOT activated?
Thx. I'm not part of the recall when you look at the Ford Pass app or on the Ford website and I checked mine out and it appears to be activated. You mentioned a VIN Group - is there a list of VINs that are under the recall?Good question.
I had suggested in Post #13, even if a GT350/350R is not in the VIN Group or Build Dates suggested by the Official Document(s), Owners of the model YEAR should still perform the check as outlined in the docs. Many others have checked it themselves; It's very easy to do and gives one a semi-piece of mind.
Got an update from the dealer, secondary timing is good, only have to change secondary timing chain, tensioner and guide. Tensioner was NOT activated on both sides. I have to say the mechanic at my dealer is very good and knowledgeable about the GT350ās
[/QUOTE Could you tell us your engine builder ? My car has been in the shop 3 weeks but I just noticed tonight on my Ford Pass app my car was driven 7 miles this afternoon so Iām assuming Iām getting closer to getting her back. This process has been killing me slowly.
Yes, but they wonāt release it. I triedā¦.You mentioned a VIN Group - is there a list of VINs that are under the recall?
Just got my car back 3 weeks to the day. Definitely seems to be quieter in the motor with the hood up. The mechanic said everything went smoothly and he said the two new tensioners were different from the stock ones and activated differently. If i remember correctly he said you just push these down to activate. They said they were changing both sides so I am assuming neither were activated. Hoping we both get our cars back Soon. Iām in Canada and can only assume I will be waiting a little longer for parts.
Same reply I got from my tech, that the new tensioers are slightly different.Just got my car back 3 weeks to the day. Definitely seems to be quieter in the motor with the hood up. Happy to hear your car is back. The tensioners and chains came in yesterday so I am hoping to get my car back next week. They are also replacing the rear camera which is no longer working and I also think my a/c compressor is on its last leg, its making the same gasping sounds that my 17 was making before it conked out.Just got my car back 3 weeks to the day. Does anyone have a pic of the "as built" tensioner vs the "new" tensioners to see the visual differences?Same reply I got from my tech, that the new tensioers are slightly different.
Hello; I do not currently have a Mustang so give my comments the value they deserve. I have in the past done a great deal of work on a vehicle just to have peace of mind. If I was confident I had the skill and the tools to do the job, the time and effort seemed worth it.Anyone anal enough to consider installing the new style tensioners on a car that otherwise checks out fine?
Most likely excessive warranty claims for low mileage engine failures. We only see what has been posted here, but on a global scale for those that do not belong to forums or hover over the internet 24/7, there's probably more cases logged than we know.Ford dealer inspection yesterday confirms tensioner was activated on the right side.
Jason Altadonna builder.
Anyone else have more info on what caused this TSB?
Was it a run of defective tensioners?
