Hey fellas

I’ve been trying to figure out why I have these circular patches on the inner edge of my trunk lid. No, they aren’t the vent holes, although they are spread out more or less evenly just like the vent holes.

My first reaction is it’s mice/roddents. There is about 8 of them. Car has 1500 miles so it can’t be wear or tear

That (to me) just looks like deformities caused when it was removed from the mold… or there was debris in the mold that imprinted the rubber.

I wouldn’t be concerned with it. If you really wanted to and it bothers you, replace the seal.

Seems like it would be incredible that mice would cause a near perfect circle nearly evenly spaced around something like that.

Or injection/relief points.
I'm not sure a new seal wouldn't have the same marks.

They are "vents" intentionally put there so the air in the hollow gasket can escape when compressed by the trunk.

No, the regular holes are there. OR vents as you call them. To evacuate the air due to compression. These arent them

Both. I’ll try to remember to snap some pics when I get home from work.

Ringworm can be cured by 2-4 week course of an antifungal cream.

So those look like the holes didn’t get punched all the way out. I have a couple that look like that, the rest all look like this. Couldn’t get a good pic of the ones that aren’t fully punched out but that’s all it appears to be
