I definitely agree with you on that. Customer care actually called me again this morning. They reiterated the same rental car bs, and I calmly explained how that's not feasible. I bet my CDF drum came apart! I'll let the dealer get something going, but will insist on a brand new transmission, because I know this one will never be right. My 2020 gt A10 was clunky as most are not never had any issues and I traded it in at 48k miles.....
I have read that trans made after I think August 2022 had the new CDF drum fix in them but it’s possible your car didn’t get that even though it’s a 2022. And yes agreed I would say my trans is kind of clunky but always has been.

I took mine into the dealer.
I had the choice to spend money on either a new transmission or a rebuild.
Neither was on a backorder at the time (mid/late July)
I went ahead with the rebuild (came with 3 year unlimited warranty).
Took about a week for parts to be ordered and installed as the tech had planned vacation.

Do you have it in writing that they agree to provide a rental car as part of an agreement or 3rd party warranty? That may help smooth things along. Ford is usually pretty good about rentals.

Kia, however....oof. That's a tangent for another day.

The standard Ford B2B 60k mile warranty covers rentals. Either reimbursement or provided by dealer. Last I knew and from my own experience, anyway.
They have an "in warranty loaner car and alternate transport" clause which states that they will provide a loaner or pay for alternate transport ( like an uber)

The extended service plan will only cover $45/day for a rental and only for a limited number of days. The time frame can be extended for more involved jobs if it's documented (like rebuilding a trans) AFAIK.

And they will only reimburse if you rent a ford. And this needs pre-approval and usually thr paperwork itself is done through ford at the dealership. Again. Last I knew, anyway.

That said, Ford should be able to figure something out. Reimbursement (in writing) may be your easiest option. And they may work with you for extended rentals.

It seems strange that Ford is giving you so much grief. Especially for an issue as large and obvious as yours.

This is the standard warranty on new vehicle original owner. They have until Monday to figure it out before I start griping

The one other thing I've only seen mentioned in here one time by another user is however long your vehicle is sitting waiting for repairs/being repaired I would ask for payment compensation on the vehicle as you were unable to drive the car for those "x"days or months. I have seen them cover a month or two before but I haven't been working at a Ford dealer for quite some time though.

For sure going to ask for compensation. The car has been in ford dealerships several times for about 3 months total. Mostly just sitting

The car is actually 2 years old with 32k miles, a long history of "warranty repairs " for transmission at a ford dealership, and the bumper to bumper is still good. 5/60 Powertrain is still good as well, plus the lifetime Powertrain from Demontrond auto group. Lemon might be the wrong word, but I'm sure Ford will make it right.
A 2022 car built in 2022, nice, don't see those very often

😆 don't actually know the build date, but it's a 22 bought in 22. I feel like this will be an unpleasant process

Yep. Fought with a Ford about the fender 5.0 badge coming loose. They said 'abuse' do to me bringing through a high pressure brushless carwash.

I shit you not.

I don't know the percentage of them that do have this transmission issue but my used 2020 gt premium A10 (bought with 23k miles), had no transmission issues or any other issues. I put 25k miles on it with no problem whatsoever .....I don't know if I want it repaired or try to get a buy back and get a 24. Currently not having a mustang is not an option. Love these cars

They told me they didn't have any for 2 months! LMFAO.... then customer care advised me to rent a car, must be a ford vehicle, max $45 per day and I would be reimbursed later. I'm like are you f-ing kidding? Can't rent a skateboard for that. At the minimum it'll need a transmission rebuild, and that will take months
I did this a yr ago or so for my kids mustang. The rental companies have diff rates if Ford is paying for it. The rates you see online are not close to what the rate will be. I had mine for about 5 weeks as her steering rack was getting replaced under warranty. When it was all said and done, I submitted the receipt and was reimbursed within 2 weeks.

I have read that trans made after I think August 2022 had the new CDF drum fix...
A transmission built after that date is meant for a 2023 car, isn't it?
