On my daughters previous car, she had this same code pop up. They replaced it. I tried to state it fell under the emissions warranty, (her car was out of 3/36, but we had the extended warranty.) but apparently Ford somehow said it didnt. Not like the code says its emissions related or anything...

This is 100% not accurate. Airbags being deployed is not a factor. Its driven by how much repairs would costs and the insurance companies threshold. Some companies may total if the amount to get car back to pre accident condition exceeds 65% of fair market value. Some may be closer to 80%.

I understand that first pic is the gateway module. In the second pic, the part number on that harness is for a lojack pass through module. What I dont know is what is that open plug in the second pic? Looks like an obd plug.
