You can kinda see it on the other side of the light. I ALWAYS use jackstands and then also leave the jack ready to go, just in case a jackstand gives.

A friend of mine's uncle was dropping a 454 in his 57' Chevy during my early childhood in his driveway without jackstands, while he was under the car, the jack gave out. The car dropped, pinning him to the driveway and then proceeded to roll down the driveway to the street, dragging him right along.

Sooooo I do my best to learn from other people's mistakes!

No jack stands? 🤕

The damn car manufactures save $5 by not putting a dipstick tube under the hood where we can check it and fill it from. I don't know what year that started but it was the beginning of the end of making it easy for customers.

Just pulled the MT82 out of my 2015 GT this morning and the clutch is next. Being replaced with a Mcleod RXT twin disc ceramic and a Calimer stage two transmission, with a Barton short throw shifter.
I have 1 7/8" Stainless Power catted LTH, MBRP race cat back exhaust, 2018 intake manifold, Auto Mafia performance tune, CAI, one piece aluminum DDS drive shaft, and the Mcleod clutch also has an aluminum fly wheel. I know that's not power parts, but it does reduce rotational mass.

A friend of the wife purchased a new Mini, she asked the salesman where the dipstick was as she is very independant and does all this kind of thing herself. The answer was there is no dipstick and even if there was you can't put oil in it anyway as you need a special adapter. So if the oil is low and you are 100 miles from the nearest dealer how do you put oil in it ?

Solution: don't buy a mini

I have the older A10 Transmission. So it's kind of useless with the how the CDF bushing gets ruined. But I change my fluid every 30K miles.

Yeah, I've got a 2018 I changed the trans fluid every 50k klm. I'm not sure if that helps that much but I also don't drive it very hard.

Very much the same for me. I don't beat on the car at all. I'm very timid with it. But I haven't had any serious issues either like others have had. Occasionally I get a hung down shift out of nowhere. Like 2 times a year maybe. But nothing else so far.

My guess is they're looking at saving money on fixed price servicing. Saying, you don't have to do anything to the transmission For a million miles or whatever. By the time you do get it serviced it's out of warranty, so if it is stuffed they don't care.

That is the attitude with a lot of manufacturers, once out of warranty its not there problem.

The first time I changed my transmission fluid and filter I called the local Ford dealer to get a price for what they would charge to do it. The service advisor told me that they only do flushes with a machine that pumps new in as old comes out. Ii explained to him that I wanted the pan dropped and the filter changed and explained that there were only two bolts holding the filter in and it would be an easy job. He told me that if I knew so much about it I should do it myself. I really didn't want to as I was probably 73 at the time but I did. My car is now 8 years old and I have never brought it to a dealer for any repair, other than if it needed work done under warranty or a recall. I know that service advisor was an idiot but I am of the opinion that dealers don't want to do anything that will take time to do. Or is it that they just don't have enough experienced mechanics to drop a transmission pan and change a filter. I bet that they can't trust the guys they hire to do oil changes to do any more than that. Now that I think about it I had to tell the Service Manager what was wrong with my car when I had a noise from my front suspension as he could not find it. It was a known problem with the shock towers that I read about online so you would have thought he would have known. I still do all my own work but when I'm too old to continue I will be going to a local mechanic down the street that I trust.

I am 74 and just swapped my MT82 transmission for a Calimer stage 2 transmission and the Mcleod twin disc RXT ceramic clutch with an aluminum flywheel. this week. Also changed the plugs and coils. Last summer I installed catted long tube headers, 2018 intake manifold. MBRP cat back exhaust and did a Auto Mafia performance tune and data log. Never to old to learn.
