Engine oil is easy, pour in 10 quarts, done! MT-82 is not so easy: draining is ok, filling port is difficult to get to, not much chance of getting a torque wrench on the plug. Ford calls for 2.7 quart of oil but that much was low on the 10 mm gauge I made, it took about another 5 ounces to look right.

Same with the diff: the specified 1.65 quart was not registering, it took about 1.8 to be at the correct level.

The trans oil looked almost like the new stuff, the diff oil was black so I am glad I changed it (at 6000 miles).

IIRC, the black in the diff is normal due to the coating on the rear end.

You can just line up the paint marks on the trans plugs to get the torque in the ball park, that's what I did. I just filled the trans until it dripped out. For the diff I followed the 9mm spec using a zip tie that I bent at a right angle. Black oil in the diff is normal the first time as above due to the black oxide coating.
