I accept that this is treason lolz.

I purchased the Bullitt new and sadly it has been a frustrating experience. It got to the point where I am done with new American vehicles until the quality and service improves.

The problems with the Bullitt:
-Failed strut mounts, replaced under warranty (took the dealership 2 months and ended with me calling ford customer support because the dealership refused to do an alignment even though I offered to pay)
-Digital dash randomly goes blank, multiple dealerships could not/would not repair, even when they could duplicate the problem
-Very clunky drivetrain, my 2000 Mustang GT with 175k miles that I used to own was less clunky!
-Drivetrain vibrations at around 65mph, I suspected the driveshaft
-Lazy performance
-Vehicle stability software really limits the usage of the power and limits power prior to wheel spin
-Holding the traction control button for 10+ seconds and changing drive modes on every drive is annoying
-Gear ratios of the MT82D4 make the car feel sluggish
-No mustang that I’ve driven with a manual transmission since the T45 ever felt like it shifted acceptably. There is always difficulty on upshifts, the synchronizer’s struggle to allow for a crisp and fast shift

The Civic Si will not win any straight line races but it feels great. It is eager to accelerate and is so much lighter and willing to turn! The ratios are similar to the MT82D4 but the final ratio of 4.35:1 really makes it feel lively. The manual transmission in this car shifts extremely well like a manual should! Traction control doesn’t seem to care if you get wheel spin, I have not felt any reduction in power or interference while driving. 400-500hp would feel amazing in this chassis.

My loyalty still lies with V8 RWD vehicles but for now this works for me. I’m still in shock with how good this car performs in real life versus how the specifications make it seem.

The Si is a great value for what you get (@shogun32 weren’t we just chatting about this last night?). I’d still take my Mustang over one but you’ll have fun with it. The world of RWD V8’s is shrinking fast, don’t stay away too long!

To each their own. No disputing the civic is a fun little car.

I remember when Honda had terrible QC in the early 2000's and got high off of sniffing their own farts. Honda learned from that but folks have recently cited build quality issues with the Si. I hope Ford doesn't do similar with the mustang.

I'm surprised you had that many issues with the Mustang.

Let’s race for Pinks. No! You can go first…how many minutes do you need before a zoom by ya? But seriously I’ve had a 2020 Civic, S,I and the type r. Both drove really well with good quality control…. Even the R with 306 hp is a slug. it IS brilliant driver that can easily be tossed around while remaining in complete control. The Bullitt is not a performance version of the Mustang. Most people do not get that the powertrain is not tuned to be a blazer… you would want to install a supercharger to wake it up. I am partial to the new Gt500 and that is what you are really wanting if you want a car that is fast and handles well and is nothing like the bullet..

I wish the Bullitt were quicker than it is. I’ve been trying to improve upon mine ever since I picked it up. Gearing could definitely be much better than it is.

Can’t blame you, small tossible vehicles have their place too.
I am coming back to a 2023 Mustang GT after owning a 2023 Mini Cooper S, I missed rwd, V8 noises and the road trip comfort. But pushing the car hard in corners and the much better stereo, the MINI prevails. Good luck with the SI!

Problem is so much traffic any more. To have fun in a mustang you gotta be going like 80+ and that's hard to do anyplace, and 3800+lbs just feels soooo heavy in corners to me. Smaller more nimble stuff you can bang out gears toss in corners and barely be doing 50-60. It's why the Miata and BRZ are so fun.

My 2000 escort coupe with autocross setup may be the slowest car I've ever had, but damn if it wasn't the most fun.

Yep, if you want build quality and a slick shifting manual Honda will get it done

For some reason I read you traded a bullit for the new Type R and I was like oh shit yes that's the way to go. Then re-read SI and was like hmmmmm idk about that...

Do what you do and enjoy the SI. For all the reasons you listed, it is a better fit. Where you are ready for more HP once again, we will be here.
