Man this looks great on the 15-17 hoods. I wish their side vents replaced the 18 vents and didn't add to them

Do you have to have an inclosed CAI with these vents?

If you drive it on the street and/or track it in the rain yes.

Looking down the driver side vent, you see the entire airbox assembly. If it rains, it's all going to pool up on the bottom of the airbox.

You shouldn't really be driving this setup in the rain, while the engine is relatively waterproof I don't think it's good for rain to constantly pour all over your engine bay.

It is simple to put a plexiglass cover over it and that has the added benefit of preventing hot underhood air from getting into it. It does not seal well to the bottom of the hood, best to just abandon that whole idea and use a cover that will keep hot air out of it for sure. Plus no issues with rain with that cover.

Took a piece of 2mm Lexan and cut to rough shape, then edge sanded to fit snug.
Used some self tapping screws for securing to the GT350 intake. No water ingress, does the job great..!

After fitting the vents and removing the under hood felt, the air box didn’t seal... intake temps soared.. There is now no heat wash from the engine bay now.

For those who've done this, is the hood removal and reinstall possible with one person, or do I need to find a buddy to help?

Does anyone know if there is much difference functionally between the Trackspec hood vents and the Race Louvers vents? The Trackspec is slightly larger overall, but the Race Louvers appears to be more open, with a more aggressive angle on the vents for extraction (see below).

Well, Race Louvers will tell you that theirs is better than their competitors. They have youtube videos and such.

Wind tunnel testing has shown that the wicker at the front of the racelouvers creates a bigger low pressure zone over the vent that allows more air to exit, making it more efficient.

Yes, the Race Louvers design definitely looks like it would be more effective than the Trackspec. Arguably, the Trackspec looks a bit nicer, but I really want something functional that will bring temps down on track. Race Louvers is probably a bit better in that area.
