Getting ready for my first track event with the GT500. Anyone using anything OTHER than the CUP 2's on their GT500?

I like to disassemble things.
Got a photo of that combination on the car?

Other than cost, I would assume you’d be hard pressed to beat the ‘FP’ spec and branded Michelin tires, no?
The engineers and test drivers I talked to, as well my seat time, all indicate the OEM tires are optimal for the track.
Have you had it on track yet?
Enjoy!

Haven't had it on track yet. Run Pirelli DH on my Boss 302 and have loved them. Was looking at the Cup 2's and the NT01's. Never run either on the track. Some tracks are much kinder towards tires than others - obviously.

Plan on hitting COTA in February so that'll be the first outing with the GT500.

Terrance built my set 11.5x20 for the PS4S to be 315s on all corners, said there was plenty of space on the inside of the front wheel wells so no rubbing or poking will be going on. Not mounted yet though, but I don't believe a spacer is needed for the Signature Wheels at least. Stock may be different idk.

What's the price on a 315 NT01?

NT01 are a little bit more than the cup2.
The NT01 are 100 rear vs cup2 180 rear.

I have run with the stock PS4’s at COTA for two events now, and they do great. Easily beat my best time in my GT350 that has Cup2’s. You can stick with the stock tires and have a great day: Vettes and GTR’s were no problem at all. Can run with the Porsche GT3’s all day.

Best match at last event was a full race-prepped BMW M3 (roll cage, big wing, slicks, etc.). Guy flew in from CA to drive it and we had a good time during our sessions.

I just looked at Tirerack and NTB.

Tirerack - Cup2 - 315/30R20 - $463.99/ea
NTB - NT01 - 315/30R20 - $473.99/ea

Why not get GY Supercar3R instead? Better tire and lasts longer too. 30% off ($1100/set installed) thru USAA till end of month. Your credit union might have something similar.

Thanks for the tip. Haven't used Goodyear since my 95 Cobra. I'm a USAA member. Have never bought tires from them though.
