Track Mode Removal - Warning from cop.....

Don t know what the op er was doing so not speaking about him but anyone running track mode threw the neighborhood streets should get a ticket and a fine. It certainly is a quality of life issue.
Don t be that A$$ neighbor that everyone love s to hate, LOL!

EDIT. I certainly have done dumb stuff and when I got caught I took my punishment and excepted responsibly .

When I had my C5, about 15 yrs ago, I lived in a very nice neighborhood. I was coming home at around 3A from a night of street racing and a cop stopped me. He told me to turn off the car. Asked me what I was doing and I told him I was coming home after spending some time with friends. He then asked me why my corvette was so loud. I answered in part that I configured it that loud. He said he had a good mind to ticket me. I asked him if there where any laws in the books in said town about exhaust noice. He said no. I then proceeded to ask him if I was free to go and he hesitated and lectured me about loud cars in neighborhoods at 3A. I responded in kind with “duly noted.” Turned on my car and drove the block and half home that I could have already been at car off for the rest of the night 15 min prior. Without having to restart my car infront of a neighbors house.

By the way I never had a complaint from
any neighbor prior or after that event.

This is the mindset that every American (patriot) should have. I never understood people that said, “…I’m moving out of CA, the politicians are the worst…” How about fight for your ****** state? Also, governmental laws are not infallible. At one point if was a law in America…to punish people for aiding runaway slaves. A law. It was law in America to remove Native Americans from their land. Let’s not even get into Nazi Germany, or The Vatican during the Dark Ages.

Just to say “…well, it is the law. Comply or get punished…” is one of the most naive, dumbest thing a person can say. We have to defend our liberties, our properties and our conscience.

Whoa glad I live just outside Indianapolis the race/hot car/modded car city! We don't even have inspection here, you can drive around with no fenders (but please have turn lights). I use track mode on my exhaust at times. There a way more oldies, S197's, old Camaro's etc. that sound way louder than my S550 in track mode here. Nobody gets pulled over for that! tbh I've driven through small towns in Ohio that have posted signs about noise enforcement, but holy day living somewhere they can make you take a feature off your "stock" car???? Fight the Power!

As a professional, that needs to be taken very seriously because you can waste a lot of people’s time and resources including your own and possibly endanger others by lack of service.

I doubt he wasted too much of the OP's time on this. I take it very seriously if something serious came of it. But spending a few minutes at the side of the road isn't very serious IMO.

A law for not having dark tinted windows where you can't see at night should not be mentioned in the same conversation as antiquated laws about slaves. Come on, man.

I had a complaint from a neighbor about my GT350, and I only drove by during the day. Well you have to look at it this way. He’s a douchebag. I mean recognizing douchery is important on knowing who you deal with. Me instead I would have had an a convo about your car, my cars, complimented you on it and offered you a beer. I’m sure after that you’d stop revving it when you went by just because I was cool with you. What says you?

For the most part I’m a Neanderthal so I would have revved it even louder after that interaction with him. But I’m just a monkey that walks on two legs.

Martin, I live in Indio right by where the Coachellafest is happening right now. I almost would like you to go to court over the front license plate business. Over here in the Coachella valley there are a lot of Tesla's. I would estimate that at least 70% do not have a front license plate. It is the law of the state that all motor vehicles have a front license. Are Tesla's exempt?

Got pulled over last night for Front license plate. Told me I can't have any tint (mine is only 55%) and also told me exhaust is too loud. I told him its stock and I was in normal mode and he said it "sounded like track mode, be careful if you get a ticket you will have that removed from the car?" Haha ok bud Ill fight that in court no problem, they cant prove what mode I was in and as long as you don't admit right? OR would it be better to say sorry its modified ill get it fixed and if you get the ticket just pay fine and have it checked by the state inspector? This reminds me of that story of the Hyundai in N mode, the owner admitted to be in track mode and couldn't register the car. I am really hating Cali....

On a side note it was 12 am I was driving slow, a Tesla took off beside me full speed and pulls me over

On a funny note, this stop remined me of the movie Super Troopers. I pulled into a parking lot there was 3 other cops, I heard them laugh at me. Once the cop gave me the ticket he said "Let us back up first, you don't want to run into us with your nice car." In addition when he got in he turned his siren on full blast for about 10 seconds

In CA, all an Officer needs for reasonable suspicion for a traffic stop (he already had that for no front plate and tint) and citation for loud exhaust is the Officers belief that it’s too loud, they don’t need a decibel meter. Some judges may agree, some may not, CA law (and most law) is intentionally left vague and therefore open to interpretation. Fighting cases leads to appellate courts and supreme courts findings and setting legal precedent that helps to find tune the understanding of the vaguely written laws.

Tint falls under window obstruction, front side windows and front windshield can’t be obstructed. It’s the same thing that stops you from hanging fuzzy dice from the rear view mirror. 55% is still obstruction, even if it’s chicken shit… you can get stopped and cited for it (presumably by an asshole cop…?)

I’m willing to bet, if a case for a loud exhaust due to track mode went to a higher court, CA would just make it illegal to sell road vehicles in CA with track mode exhaust as an option. That’s just my personal opinion based on no information other than the fact that I have spent a great deal of time in CA.

As for the backed away and blasted his siren…

Police cars have three settings for lights (typically). 1 is just rear facing, 2 is solid forward facing red and blue lights with rear, 3 is rotating forward facing red and blue lights and sirens with rear.

When you slide to the third setting to pull someone over and then stop the car and put it in park the lights stay rotating but the siren turns off. As soon as you take it out of park the siren blasts again. I would imagine he was embarrassed more than trying to piss anyone off…

But what do I know, I’m just some guy…
