It is about the money. In a perfect world they not worry about speeders that are 10-15 over the limit of tint, loud exhaust, etc. but It isn't. And frankly with the da's and courts slapping thugs hands and say'n don't do that again. and letting them back out, I kinda see why the popo can't be bothered. Only fix is get the DA TOST/FIRED.
I feel you. Personally, when I need a cop….like when a car is jacked from my driveway in an upper middle class subdivision, never even showed up. Call insurance they say. When I don’t need a cop, like driving to work at 630 to become a 12hr minimum work day they are all out in force handing out tickets to folks heading into the office.

Lol, yeah for sure.

I’ve always thought I’d rather live around bored cops than ones that are super busy šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚
yeah like when I lived in Houston I had some Houston PD friends. There's so much crime, gun violence going on they had a standard shift rule, don't bother with traffic stops unless the driver is going over 90mph. on the tint, Texas passed a tint law so Officers could see if someone was about to unload a clip on them when approaching a vehicle, which happened too often. Some law are bored butts some are just fighting to come home each day. No comment on Texas Troopers.

That’s funny. The original OP said he was in Southern California. I haven’t seen a cop on the highways for three years. I drive 90 miles an hour, no joking, on the way to work and I get passed all morning long. Some of these comments make me laugh my ass off. I’m glad you have cops in your area but we don’t.

Hey guys, just came across this post. I live in Southern California, North L.A. area. I was actually given a ticket recently for exhaust and received a State Ref for my Factory stock 2022 Mach 1 šŸ™

I was turning left and happened to accelerate spiritedly up to 45 mph and left off. I was swarmed by 4 cop cars and surrounded when I pulled into a McDonald's to get a McFlurry. The cop said they heard me from down the street supposedly. I told them it was completely stock and it only had about 400 miles at the time. They started explaining something about the Hellcats and the track key and yadda yadda yadda. I explained to them this was nothing like that and that is smog legal. They looked under the hood and were questioning the stock open air box. Once again I explained that my car is completely smog legal from the factory. They said they were doing a sideshow crack down that night and that I was at the wrong place at the wrong time. This was at about 9 p.m. in the evening.

From the research that I've done, correct me if I'm wrong, even in Track mode exhaust it is still under the 95db limit. Can anyone confirm this?

I plan on fighting this ticket by using one of the "Fight a ticket" companies. I would rather give the money to them to fight it than pay the state/City a dime. They said I have an 80-90% chance of getting it throw out. I'm crossing my fingers at this point.

My brother, who has a 2020 GT PP, was also following me. He has an H pipe installed with the rest of his stock exhaust. He was also given a ticket. His was only given a $25 "fix it ticket" fortunately for him. He was just driving normally and didn't even accelerate hard. He will be replacing with the stock resonator and paying the ticket.

The coastal areas of this country are at war with ice, it's only gonna get worst.Hope you didn't tell the officers that it was in track mode.

Same in Arizona 9 to 10 over they’ll let you be. 85 mph is the norm on most highways. But you go 1 mph over that and they get you for criminal speeding.

Those were my words by the way, reading comprehension, and yes it is loud as fucking hell. To each his own. I’m going to drive my car the way I drive my car. Fuck your neighbors. If they can’t handle a nice car they can go to hell.
Right - agree 1000% about the exhaust..

Just like the way it's ok for Harley owners to have loud pipes when they drive around at any hour - NO ONE ever pulls them over or "complains". So as vehicle enthusiasts, WE should be able to have exhaust "tuned" to what we like as well and without repercussions.

We should hold a #hearmenow day where a date and time is picked and every single Mustang/Muscle Car/Sports Car Enthusiast around the freaking world does a 3 minute 4k RPM rev hold in any location they are at.... it would be the definitive sound heard round the world... 🤣

I wouldn't have told them anything, other than I started it, and started driving .
Yep. Don't understand why anyone shares any more information with police other than yes sir no sir. Folks need to choke their ego back down their throat.

People are their own worst problem. Seems to be there was a warranty thread where this was the problem as well. LOL

I agree about keeping our mouths shut when dealing with the police. Any lawyer will tell you when being questioned - especially in a courtroom, keep your answers to a bare minimum, lest you incriminate yourself.

Got pulled over last night for Front license plate. Told me I can't have any tint (mine is only 55%) and also told me exhaust is too loud. I told him its stock and I was in normal mode and he said it "sounded like track mode, be careful if you get a ticket you will have that removed from the car?" Haha ok bud Ill fight that in court no problem, they cant prove what mode I was in and as long as you don't admit right? OR would it be better to say sorry its modified ill get it fixed and if you get the ticket just pay fine and have it checked by the state inspector? This reminds me of that story of the Hyundai in N mode, the owner admitted to be in track mode and couldn't register the car. I am really hating Cali....

On a side note it was 12 am I was driving slow, a Tesla took off beside me full speed and pulls me over

I should just go all out get headers and be loud at this point LOL

On a funny note, this stop remined me of the movie Super Troopers. I pulled into a parking lot there was 3 other cops, I heard them laugh at me. Once the cop gave me the ticket he said "Let us back up first, you don't want to run into us with your nice car." In addition when he got in he turned his siren on full blast for about 10 seconds šŸ¤” šŸ˜’
Sorry to hear you live in Cali. Its just a different world then what it was years ago. I have zero desire to go back. Sad. Good Luck
