This is what I used on M&H drag radials to stop the spin - run 'em at 18 lbs. on my '18 10R80. Glued beads front & back.

I have heard hairspray works.

I am going to try that before going the Permatex route.

When you have the tires mounted if they used a decent amount of lube it might not stop moving. You could remove the wheels and break the bead and clean the surface really well and reinflate. If that doesn't work you need beadlocks.

I had the beads broken, tires and rims cleaned with acetone, coated bead areas with Permatex hi tack. Will report back!

Back in the day we used screws to hold the tire to the rim.

NHRA Pro Stock, & even Top Alcohol Dragster guys, used Rim screws for decades, till the rules changes made them illegal. All beadlocks now.

Moroso still sells Rim screws in bubble packs.

On these street radial cars. If you can't afford beadlocs, bonding agents work well enough.

Requires good prep & clean surfaces.
Some aluminum race wheels are even knurled at the bead seat area. Street wheels are not.

No soaps or lubrication on tires when mounting them is the first step. Road race cars can spin the tire on the wheel during heavy braking & this eventually throws tires out of balance in many cases.

Mine moved for about a week on the street using 4X4 off road bead glue. Had them balanced once more, and they haven't moved again for over a year. Even at the dragstrip.

Back in the day we used screws to hold the tire to the rim.
And a stripe of white shoe polish on the sidewall so an observer could gauge tire spin off the line.

Had the same issue with same VMS wheels a few years back, even at 17 lbs cold on ET Street Rs. Switched to Forgestar D5 beadlocks and even swapped over the same exact tires that were slipping and I snapped an upgraded halfshaft (won't name the brand) on the very first transbrake hit. Tires have not moved since mounting them. And I keep track and mark them every pass for movement.

I guess thats one benefit of them moving a bit, it prevents other driveline failures. I just dont balance mine. Do you have a before/after beadlock best 60 foot times?

1.62 was best 60ft launching off idle on the beadlocks. 1.65 on VMS, same launch off idle at same track.

No doubt the transbrake hit would have been 1.5x or better if halfshaft would have survived. It deadhooked hard and felt like a manual on slicks.
