What part of NJ - north/south?

Glad to hear they were willing to fix the bad job... most likely whoever did the tint first fo around was rushing, because based on your initial images, there was definitely quite a bit of debris trapped in those bubble pockets.

Sucks that you had to waste time to go back for a redo... but seems that is the norm anymore with anything lately...

I don't like cleaning the rear window on mine, I'd hate to have to put tint on it. I'd have to take it out of the car.

so the place was south jersey, in egg harbor. i’m in ocean county.
Don't forget to post updated pics.
yup! i’m gonna let it dry a bit. i also had to just touch up a pretty nasty rock chip on the hood…can never win lol that’s what happens when you get 1000 miles within less than 3 weeks of ownership, and a lot are parkway miles lol

Love how it looked ok the day I got it back, and now looks like shit again. More contaminant. More bubbles. This place is pure TRASH and has unskilled people doing tint. Pathetic. Pissed off but their policy is “no refunds” which is ridiculous. I am not bringing it back for another 100 mile round trip for another fix that won’t even fix anything. Annoying.

Really sorry to hear this. Might I suggest contacting 3M. It is their product and as a measure of good will they might intervene on your behalf to get this issue resolved.

By the way if there is contamination you should have been able to see it immediately. It didn’t happen after you left the place.

You’re right but the bright sun outside I guess I couldn’t see the small bubbles, and since it was all still wet, didn’t notice it.
either way I’m drafting an email now, I’ll wait 7 days to send it. Honestly I may just try to get money back and then take this tint off and not even bother with any other tint place to get it done. Or maybe just pay a local place to ensure it comes off properly. Everything I see online says a heat gun is the best way to get it off the rear window without breaking the defroster.
And honestly the fact that tinting the window still causes the rear view mirror to auto dim pisses me off. On the 2014 after I got 15% it stopped dimming and visibility was good. On this, it’s 5% and still dims all the way down and it’s impossible to see out the rear.

If you keep the tint on you could pull the wire for the mirror tint or cover the light sensor on the front of the mirror :like:

yeah i’m gonna go tomorrow and i’ll have to sit and wait for another 4 hours like i did monday bc i have no ride or anything since i’m an hour away. it’s just ridiculous. i agree, looks like debris underneath so they clearly didn’t clean the window properly. tint isn’t rocket science, like someone said, so i don’t get why a professional would do such a shit job. i’m just in a real pissed off annoyed mood right now bc of this, and the fact it cost 295 after tax. only upside was there was a BOGO deal, so i’m getting my rear of my tacoma done for free next month. still, if it’s as shitty of a job, not even worth going back.
Before you leave make sure they didn't screw up the defrost lines.

I couldn’t find a sensor. I found the back but from what I hear thats ambient light so if you cover that, it will constantly be dark and burn it out. Idk where the sensor on the front of the mirror is and I have that bezel less mirror.

Well, um, ooops. Check it in the am if it gets cold in your local.
Yeah. The guy said it is a chance. But every single one is intact. I saw videos where when you use a heat gun, it comes off easily. And they used the heat gun and it was only on for 3 days.

On my sportage it has a sensor on the front and back to sense light from both directions, compare it and then make the dimming adjustment.

I’ve had no reason to mess with the one on the mustang, but when I messed with the one on my sportage it also has a wire that kills the dimming when reverse is selected - that might be an option for you if you can’t find the sensor :like:
