I have been driving my car with a Whipple since February/March, granted not that many miles and zero drag/track time. When I first started out I was not going to have the OPG or TCS done with 670 rwhp but now that I'm 750+ I decided to get them done because I no longer feel safe at these power levels.

Car has been at Tasca since Monday getting them installed and a few other things and I can't wait to get it back and feel better about them being in. Piece of mind/insurance policy if you ask me.

Again, if it was such a know failure then where are all of these failures at. The way that some people act, you would think that there would be a dedicated thread about the failures. Look at how many 2015's are FI on the stock opg. I have been driving the hell out of mine since February with the whipple.
So you missed my comment about it being a low failure rate? But they have failed. So why not play it safe? Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. And both ways are good and bad. It's all a matter of what your willing to live with. Some will accept the risk, other want the piece of mind. I gave my opinion. You gave yours. None of us have a crystal ball so they are both a gamble. One is investing pointless money on parts that were not an issue, the other is a gamble of them failing. There are pros and cons to both. It's just a matter of what your comfortable with. Me I'm more comfortable dropping the money and forgetting about it. You are more comfortable without swapping them. That is all.

I havent decided if i want tss gears and a ford racing pump or go with mmrs whole hurricane pump. Definitely will be using mmrs timing gear, chains, guides etc.

My timing gear broke driving down the road at 2200 rpm. I had already done the oil pump gear at that point. I would do it and be done.

I've personally seen a MMR OPG fail in a brand new motor.

Look at the recent thread from member Reds197. It is his build 2.0 with an S550 automatic and has a picture of his previous broken timing gear on the initial post.

a lot of times they will develop a crack in the sprocket, and you don't know

we came home from world cup because we broke the rear end last year.

we decided to send the block out to be freshened up, there was a huge chunk missing out of the sprocket and it was being held together at the end by just the edge of the material

looked like next pass it would have went.

at lower power builds if your not using a two step, i think your ok, but if you have the means, and ability, an ounce of prevention

Terry, were you running the MRR gear?

Just curious because mine were just installed days ago (OPG and Timing Sprocket). I will not see more than 770 rwhp and may only see 1 or two track days in its life and I'm assuming this is perfectly safe for my setup?

Thanks,
Jaime

I went MMR for both. I sleep well at night knowing I can rev the piss out of my engine to get that boost!

I don't really drag my car and my tires act like a second clutch.

(only have traction issues in cold/wet/1st/2nd/sometimes 3rd) so drive line shock isn't killing me but I rev that engine hard!
