I assume he means the middle one where the slower ET won.

It's not based on ET, it's based on ET + reaction time. Even though you got through the quarter mile faster than him, he got there first after the light went green. He took off .1 seconds after, you slept off the line and waited .7 seconds.

14.53+0.1 < 13.99+0.7

If the tree is dropping at the same time for both lanes (and it should be) the "Winner" is simply the first person through the traps at the end of the track - unless we're talking bracket racing. For example - if I sit at the light and count to 5 after the green light, then take off - that 5 second wait doesn't effect my ET - that doesn't start until I break the timing lights it only effects my reaction time. So if the other car ran a 15 second 1/4 mile and I waited 5 second and ran a 12 second 1/4 mile - My car is faster, but the "Won" since he obviously crossed the finish line first.

LOL, NO. Let me clarify a few things. This is not my GT, I made better times. First time I’ve ever been on a track, 13.4 was was best. Gotta get the hang of launching. Anyway back on subject, the #26 was my son in laws Chrysler 300C. For my purpose only so my head doesn’t explode trying to understand this let’s reference left lane and right lane.

This was not bracket racing, I’m not real smart and I’m not real stupid but I still don’t get it.

Don't think of it in terms of time at all. Think of it as once the light turns green, whoever gets to the finish line first wins.

Once the light went green it only took him .1 seconds to start moving, it took you nearly .7 seconds to get moving. He had .6 second head start on you from the start. that puts his total time at around 14.6. Your total time was around 14.7. close race, but he got ya.

First thing that almost always gets everyone - keep this is mind - RT (reaction time) is simply the time it takes for your to react to the Green light (last yellow is when you should leave- just saying LOL) and trip the timing lights at the start.

Reaction Time has ZERO effect on ET (Elapsed time to get through the 1/4 mile in this case).

You can literally sit there until they yell at you to go. The time which gives you your ET doesn't start until you breaking the beams and move pass the staging beams.

Look at the RT (Reaction Time) on that middle slip

LEFT LANE RT was .130 - perfect would be .000

RIGHT LANE RT was .688

So the left lane beat you to the start by .558 seconds

Now look at your ET

LEFT LANE - 14.530
RIGHT LANE - 13.996

Right Lane was faster by .534

But Left lane started .558 second SOONER so he crossed the finish line first.

Clear as mud?

I guess I assumed the lower ET meant that car got there first but there is math involved, lol. So other than visual reference and the time slip stating 1st left or right the ET/MPH isn’t stating who won?

If you are actively racing someone and not just testing for yourself, all that matters is the " 1st left " or "1st right" on the slip. Reaction time and 60 foot are the name of the game for heads up and bracket racing, get outta the hole fast, hard and consistent!

Got it now, just something I never knew so it’s hard to make sense of it
