Yeah I know. I'm still picking up my jaw of the floor after reading that. No wonder people are paying new prices for 3-4 year old cars at the moment.
I had assumed about 6 months, and was already planning on getting some quotes tomorrow, to lead to an order next week, and waiting until I get a "Segmentation" (Build) Date confirmed, before putting my MY21.5 on the market. Looks like that it might hit the market 6 months later than planned ! Bugger !

Have you decided if the new one will be a CS or a standard GT yet?

Its amazing how you can get Dealers attention, and encourage them to "Sharpen their Pencil" on Pricing when you don't bother to go in person - just ring them and tell them you are Shopping Around NSW (or WA/SA)- and without giving them any competitor feed-back. It gives you the psychological & strategic advantage

At least you got your "bits & pieces" thrown in.

Hopefully that wait time might shrink, Good luck!

According to a (Ford insider??) member on another forum, there are significant increases scheduled on Australian bound MY22 RHD production, which starts in February 22 for an April/May delivery. Crucially, unlike last year, when there was only two or three very limited production runs, apparently this year will see continuous RHD Production.

So hopefully and assuming the supply issues have been managed, the Order Lead or Waiting times could be seriously cut (with any luck).

Yeah I might be engaging in some psychological warfare soon to see if I can get the price down. I just need to make up my mind on the CS or not.

Why are you upgrading? Not much difference between yours and a MY22 right?

Ha, you’re complaining about a 12 month wait, I’d dream of it. Then I’d only have 3 more months to wait instead of 6 or 7.
Be careful about believing dealers predictions for when you’ll get a car. They just don’t know. Ford could stop or start those lines many times over the next months. I’d say there is a real possibility that anyone who hasn’t already placed an order won’t receive a Mustang of this generation.
Sure I might be wrong and this year all of the supply issues will magically have gone away, but I might be right too …
BTW FYI, my broker got me a deal for $1000 less than I could get myself, which according to the ‘losing’ dealer I negotiated with put it at the cost price with zero profit. So a broker could be worth a go.

OMG !! Ordered in Nov 21 = 12-13 Months Wait !!
Yeah, not ideal. I ordered beginning of November last year and have heard nothing, nada, zip. No idea what's happening and don't want to be one of those people ringing my Ford dealer every few weeks to see what's happening. I figured I'll give them a call at the 3 to 4 month mark for an update lol.

This is what I would do - pick up a used to drive, have it for a few months then order one specced the way you want. I have zero patience and could barely wait 2 weeks for a car, I'd be too worried I'd change my mind.

Anyway i bought a used '19 manual which I love to bits, but if I had my time over I would have spent an extra $10K to get one with the performance pack or whatever and recaro seats.

These cars are fun to mod and mostly cheap to mod, but at the moment I'm looking at retrofitting performance seats and I think I'd be lucky to come out of it for less than $5K which is a bit stiff for a car I only drive 3 or 4 days a week.

I'm not dissing autos, but this car is fantastic in a manual, a v8 manual is the holy grail for bogans and I have to say it makes every drive very engaging.

No, still torn between the two, although the C/S might just have the points. I will get quotes on both and see how I go. Cheers!
Go for the CS 😁 you won’t be disappointed

Its really hard to know exactly whats going to happen. My other concern with ordering now is that we dont know when the S650 will come out. Might regret waiting for that or might regret not buying an S550 is you do wait.
Last I read was that Ford will start production of the S650 in March 2023. That probably means Aus wont get any till late 23 or early 24. That is a long wait. This is why I'm leaning towards just buying now. Also the S550 is a known quantity right now. Its been updated and sorted over many years. A new model might have issues the first number of years. One just doenst know.

How does it work when you order one of these? Do you need to put down a deposit? What if you decide months down the track to cancel? Can you cancel? What are the implications if you do cancel?
