Someone will copy it soon enough, they already copied the body lines into a kit for the posers out there 🤣
Wasn’t looking to make a Gt-500 KR copy, just would like to have one of those hoods for my 16’ GT

Well that’s good, it’s not a KR hood, it’s an SE hood.
To be honest I didn’t see much difference between the KR and SE hoods, but have only seen the KR in person up close at the Mustang 60th at Charlotte. I would most likely be looking for the aluminum version also. I have seen some for sale from overseas vendors but would prefer to get one conus. Getting it shipped without any damage would be a miracle and if it fit poorly it would most likely cost more than the hood to return it. As far as the aero balance is concerned I would have to see what it’s like with my current setup. If I had to go the route of an APR wing oh darn. Honestly my major concern would be water management considering how much it rains in NC and me not wanting my engine drenched in downpours. If I could source an inexpensive spare GT hood I might go the race louvre GT-4 route. https://c2aero.com/gt4-style-hood-vents/. Adam is pretty close to where I live.

The KR hood has extra clearance for the Whipple supercharger. Otherwise they look the same from the outside.

We need one of these for us GT drivers!
Merry Christmas,
Pete
Anderson makes something similar for the GT. It does not have the center vent that the 500 hood has but it does have the larger side vents

$3k plus paint and striping to save 20 pounds doesn't seem worth it. The car weighs what, 3800 stock?

Ha! It's a cumulative effect. Weight reduction on a car gets very expensive once you get past the simple lithium battery swap. The CFTP is a 4000 pound car. A more respectable number would in the 3800 pound range. Unfortunately, it gets difficult to get near that number unless you take more drastic measures. When I track, all the non essential weight comes out of the car (tire inflator, subwoofer and bracket, etc). The next significant weight reduction would be installing a race seat and removal of the passenger seat. Everything mentioned would drop the cars weight down to about 3800 pounds.

Further weight reduction would require significant changes like dry carbon doors (which would require a 6 point cage minimum) and gorilla glass. That would probably get the car down in the mid to low 3700 pound range.

So many folks don't understand or care about weight reduction and what it does for the vehicles performance. If you are a cars and coffee guy, then it's not worth the money and doesn't really make a difference. If you are trying to extract every bit of performance on the track, weight is all that and greatly influences the car's performance and handling abilities.

And when you really go down the rabbit hole, you’re stripping out all the interior panels, sound deadening, stereo, speakers, non-essential wiring, etc. on top of replacing all of the metal panels you can with CF. But you’re talking dedicated track car at that point. Can probably get the car down to 3,6xx lbs at that point?

It's the HP/WT ratio, not overall HP. Weight is it's own factor. The heavier the car the less agile it would be. I have enough HP, the car needs to be lighter for the purpose of turning, brakimg, and acceleration.

Physics is physics and you can try to mask weight, but it works against you.
