I just hate that more and more cars are making everything knobless. I want my physical AC controls!

If biology had the good sense to provide knobs for optimum tacticle interaction, so shall cars. I mean can you imagine trying to change the volume on your phone if it didn't have a rocker switch or the 2 side buttons?!?!?!?!

One of the big reasons why I won't do a 24 Mustang.
I'll take the screens over the exterior appearance. I actually like the interior, for the most part... could take or leave the central screen but I love the digital cluster on my '22 so I can't really say much.

I don't like either. The outside is too much Camaro and the dash doesn't look like a Mustang dash anymore.
At least the S550 digital dash retains the Mustang character and physical buttons for stuff.
I'm resigned to there being screens in cars but to rely solely on them is shortsighted and foolish. They're just too integrated into the vehicle and will cause a massive amount of cascading issues when they fail. And they will fail because they are too complicated and integrated.

I've been into computers for a long time and I've never had a lcd fail for what it's worth. In fact, any component failure besides memory is pretty rare. Not saying it can't happen, it just doesn't strike me as that big of a concern. We're also far past the lead free solder and chemical capacitor period of dread so that helps too.

I'm just waiting for the glorious day to dawn where miscreants can OTA bitcoin miners to your Sync3/4 and turn on the mic, and exfiltrate your location in real-time so they can carjack you or worse. I mean, it's not like Ford Software division has shown themselves capable of addressing such risks...

I could see it. More reason to pull that fuse, lol. My car already stopped getting sync updates already it seems and it's only 4 years old lol

My opinion is the screens will be crap just like all the new electronics are. I have not owned a car now in 20 years that didn't have consistent electronic failures of some kind or another. Try and keep a car for 20 years and see how many dash lights you have that cannot be cleared.

I also own a 2008 Infinti G37 and the screens have been turning brown for a couple of years now and are getting blurry but luckily the car has analog gauges also which work fine. So whats going to happen is the proprietary touch screen will fade and burn out in about 10-15 years time, 100% of the time, on every single vehicle and if someone doesn't produce an aftermarket screen you will be out of luck. Luckily they are making them for the G37 now and Mustangs are popular enough I suspect someone will also make aftermarket for them also. That may not happen with American only type cars.

Another big problem is the computers. So far the Mustang is giving me all kinds of erroneous codes so if it cannot be exact on what is broken instead thats not going to be good enough either.

As a matter of fact, this has been on my mind. I am in my 50's now and will be looking to buy that "retirement vehicle" and right now I am activily looking at older 90 and early 2000's 4x4s because I don't want any computers , no screens, no power windows; I just don't want anymore electronics hassles. Getting old, when 90% of all your repairs are just electronics and they are hard to diagnose.

These screens and this interior…I was negotiating on my 2023 Mach 1 in September 23’ and since I wasn’t budging on my end they kept pushing me to look at a 2024 GT. I test drove it to entertain their suggestion and I couldn’t get past it. EVERY LITTLE DETAIL that resembles Ford Mustang’s interior was zapped out of existence. Now you can blindfold someone and put them into the s650 and they wouldn’t know if they were in a Camaro, Challenger or the new Jelopee. It’s so sad!
no buttons?! 🤢🤧
I’m assuming there will at least be an aftermarket option to replace the infotainment system? 🤞🤞
