Helped with hood lift for sure. Just got the car back lastnight from the body shop. I plan on putting a go pro on the hood and using string to see the air flow
Sweet! I'm thinking about duplicating during my next install binge at end of July....

Just send me $69.99 and I will send you the bit and instructions, act now and we will include a drip pan free.

Outstanding!
Im working on a solution for more cold air HP as well.
Ive converted the windshield wipers to spray on to my intake piping... Have filled my wiper fluid with rubbing alcohol!

I can't wait to try it out on the main straightaway on my fast lap :headbang:

*edit thats a joke, son. :D

Can't say anything about my '16 IRS, but I owned an '01 Cobra with IRS for 15 years. That IRS needed a cooler; apparently the newer one does too as the GT350 has one. Full Tilt Boogie (http://fulltiltboogieracing.com/) plays around with the older IRS and I suspect they will be into the newer version soon. Their stuff works on the older models. Also, check out Maximum Motorsports (http://www.maximummotorsports.com/) for development newer IRS components.

Ok so finally played around with the hood vents. ( I can only imagine what people were thinking as I drove around with blue tape, ribbon and a gopro on the car...LOL) If anyone knows any more about aero please jump in, I'm just playing around.

My first test I covered the holes with tape and then got on the highway (open air) and set the cruise at 75 for 3 miles(next exit) turned around and drive back home 3.25 miles. Luckily the highway is so close. It was 110 degrees during all test, I did have the air on for all test.

High Low Avg
Covered 216 210 214
Open 212 206 210
Scoop 210 205 208

So they are working to relieve heat I assume.

Next I used ribbon both on top and below of the vent to test flow. As you can see from the Video it appears the air is escaping. You can also see the below ribbon trying to make its way out. Also the ribbon isn't laying flat its going up so the below pressure is able to escape.

Video..

In conclusion I think ( im no aero engineer) that the vents are working and do have some function when it comes to keeping the hood lift down and the car cooler.

Pics of scoop....

OK, so my heat management plan is moving forward;

1) made home-brew plexiglass lid for my JLT cold(sometimes hot...very hot) air intake - seems to make noticeable improvement in IAT's, at least with hot ambient temps, hot engine, and low speeds. Need to do more data collection to understand where it will make sense to remove, i.e. track day speeds at XX temp. If it looks like I will be using it a lot, I will build a better quality one. Maybe make a plaster mold of the top of the airbox, and lay some fiberglass.

2) ordered and received Reische 170 deg thermostat from Lethal

3) ordered and received JLT brake cooling kit from JLT

4) ordered and received exhaust wrap - will focus on rear area by diff

5) ordered Roush Heat Extractors, will be cutting out backside to improve flow - I liked the way these look, and the duct design looks NACA-ey?

6) will be performing stock grille delete, plan to run it open for awhile, and if I get too nervous about radiator damage, I may throw some mesh back in. Looks real easy to bond that to the backside of the stock grille shell.

The think the Roush vents and cutting away the bottom will become my next setup.

FWIW, I did the math on the Roush vents. Their 4 openings total only 37% of the stock vent single opening. And they have the drip tray below. And they require cutting that, and maybe your hood.

They do look cool from the top, but the plastic has so much orange peel, that painters don't want to color-match paint them.

Sorry, I normally don't like to detract from vendors' products, but I just want to point out to not let the 4 slots fool you into thinking they extract more air than the stock vents.

Really?? Hmmmm....assume that you have taken measurements of actual units of each?

Definitely not trying to call BS, but very interested in this topic because I've already ordered the Roush Extractors. And yes, definitely planning to cut the drip tray and hood area underneath, like apex15stangPP.

I have obviously seen the stock ones, but never the Roush ones in person. Check out the two pics for comparison below, it's hard to see how the Roush doesn't have greater total outlet size.

I am interested to see someone with a 2016 put on the Roush hood vents. I know I don’t need to see a blinker on the hood.

Yes, I did measure and I did the calculation. I was initially surprised at the result. Check it yourself.

I ordered the Roush vents, got painting estimates, had my OEM vents out, and had a buyer for my blinkers.
In the end, I sold the Roush vents, and I like my 2016 blinker-less vents with Xpel. Just my experience.
