Texas Speed Header Install

I'm about to pull the trigger on a set of headers and like the price point on the Texas Speed headers. But when reading the info it says that for 2017+ some cutting and welding may be required. For those that have installed them yourself, how much of a PITA is it to install them? Thanks in advance. I'm looking at their catless with Xpipe version.

I did the install on a set on my 15 and things were tight, but with the motor mount off on each side you can lift the motor some and drop it as needed. they were very tight width wise, I haven't been under a 18, but cant see how much would be different. Really they were a very easy install, it took me maybe 4 hrs for the headers and some more time because I did some other stuff. Honestly way easier than the trucks I work on at work when they need new exhaust manifolds, whether it be a 350 with a 5.4 or 6.2 or 6.8. 6.2 being the easiest of the bunch. there is loads of room to work once the starter and motor mounts are out of the way. Once the new headers are in things get tight, but are not unmanageable. If you were in KC Id so bring it on over and give ya a hand.

I have the "long" kit, so it goes back to just in front of the rear end. I like my active exhaust.

As far as fitment, it was similar to other kits. This was my 3rd s550 install. So it wasn't anything crazy.

gotcha, literally I would do a full install welded for like 325, so don't let any shops give you any grief

It's was pretty rambunctious in all modes. Quiet mode was pretty bad. I got two 9" bullet style race mufflers and put them where the fake cats were. Now it's perfect. Similar to active mufflers with an xpipe, just slightly louder in all modes. I can't complain at all.

Oh, OK, you were running catless, yeah, I'd be running HFCs, that's probably a big difference in sound. Thanks!

I have TS full length catless with xpipe and the factory active exhaust and think it's perfect. On quiet mode and cruising you can hardly hear the exhaust note at all. On Track it's pretty nasty, but if you like loud exhaust you'll love it.

Unfortunately, this is the only video I have at the moment and you can barely hear the exhaust over the whipple, but maybe it'll give you an idea.
