You need to do more research before modding your car. I highly doubt that there is anything wrong with your car after installing a catback. There is nothing back there that would or could cause an issue. I think the louder sound of the exhaust is making you think the car should be going faster than it really is.
:headbang::doh::amen: might be on to something.....

Need4Speed15, you're right.

I first thought the intake/tune was the issue, but I have to eliminate all confounding variables, like the ones you mentioned. Spot-on steps.
I don't understand your logic, at all. The problem existed BEFORE the intake and tune. How can you POSSIBLY then blame the intake and tune.

Troubleshooting 101 says you start where the problem started....

Before you start pulling stuff off the car, do a datalog and try to get somebody to take a look at it. You might be able to track down the source of the problem that way. Btw Do you have a catch can?
Yes he did state he had a catch can and ur thinking the same thing i am!!!!!!!!!.Pvc leak or vaccum leak, for that kind of power loss it has to be big.

Stoli,

I said i have to eliminate all confounding variables befote diagnosing the issue as an intake/tune problem. No variables were eliminated, therefore i can not say the issue is caused by the intake/tune. There's nothing to argue here!

And if you read my posts, I think you'd understand why I had initially thought the problem was due to those two mods.

Definitely not tune related. A tune cannot fix a mechanical problem, those are two very unrelated subjects.

If there is one thing on a vehicle that will NEVER change, it is the program/tune. I would always explain it to customers like a personal computer. A tune is like a WORD document. The only three ways that document will change is if it is specifically opened and modified, if it is deleted, or if the computer crashes. Doing anything else mechanically to the computer whether its more RAM, bigger monitor, etc, will NOT change the document. It is the item that consistently remains constant.

A tune is EXACTLY the same. If there is a preexisting mechanical issue or a mechanical issue that develops after, the computer is going to command the same thing. It doesnt change.

3.5 years of working in a speed/dyno shop and this is always the topic I would discuss the most.

You have a preexisting mechanical issue. Nothing else is logical.

I've been saying vacuum all along, and I didn't even know he had a catch can...missed that. The car is acting like it has a vacuum problem.

Nothing to do with the tune, stop bugging Bama lol.

It's got to be a vac leak or a gigantic exhaust leak.

******UPDATE / RESPONSE AS PROMISED******

Okay guys, I'm back. Again, I apologize for the confusion; I take 100% responsibility for this, like I should. After proof reading everything I posted here, and in my other thread, I would be confused too, if I were in your guys' shoes. Hopefully my reputation here isn't too down-the-drain for any of my future posts or relationships with you guys here to be taken seriously.

I will describe in short, as ACCURATELY as possible, in chronological order, of my mods and issues.

1. Got springs/catback(stainless works) installed at shop.
-TERRIBLE throttle response under 3k RPM thereafter. So terrible that if you close your eyes, you'd think you'd be driving a truck with a Smart Car's engine.
2. Ordered JLT CAI / BAMA tune
-Reason for ordering: more HP / fixing throttle response

That's it. Other mods are irrelevant, i.e. black out pony grille, girlfriend mod, etc.

I thought ordering and installing an intake and tune would fix the problem, as the stock engine and stock tune accommodate best with the car being bone stock and without a larger exhaust. I would read here and there the positive responses people would give after installing the same mods I have currently installed on my car, which are to include BETTER throttle response than STOCK's.

As you guys know by now, an intake and tune did NOTHING for my car, so I went ahead and thought the intake and/or tune was at fault. I emailed bama for a 2nd tune, got it, installed it, and the results were the same - no changes. I emailed them AGAIN last Friday(if I remember correctly) and still have yet to receive a response.

To conclude:
-I thought it's common car-knowledge that adding a catback with a larger piping diameter would result in poor-er low-rpm throttle response. (so no problem here, I thought)
-I thought an intake/tune would fix it, but they did nothing (ah hah! I thought here's the problem!)

Thanks for your time, guys.
...the poor throttle response began after the exhaust change, I'd suggest a check of the cat/O2 sensors connections for damage or whatever.

I wonder if the neg battery terminal was pulled before the cbe installation? I know it shouldn't cause as much of a problem as he has but you never know.

Hey OP, I know you didn't do the installation but can you answer the above question?

You don't need to pull the battery to install an exhaust.

If u know anyone with a scan tool have them hook it up and dont check for codes!!!!!.,look at the long and short term fuel trims and tell me what they are at idle warmed up.From their i can tell u if u have a bad vaccum leak.
