I'm a little torn on the whole "driving modes" thing.

I've been driving high performance automobiles all my life, and I've never needed a selectable mode to help me out. That being said, I think I would have paid for the aluminum toggle switches and satellite radio, but just didn't want all the other stuff that comes with a Premium. Different strokes for different folks...

And I'm also damned glad that Ford implemented the nanny state into my car, because the Mustang is the most powerful vehicle that I have ever owned.

That being said, I am damned glad that the nannies on the base GT + PP can be deselected, because you definitely would NOT want to track a Mustang with the nannies on. But they are great for responsible about the town driving. Might just save a life or your car.

That's not a driving mode, that only applies to the traction control, not the throttle response.
dcrypter said there were no modes on the base care. Pretty sure, 'Sport' lights up when you do this, so it is in Sports' mode at that point. Never said it was a 'driving' mode - however you wish to define that.

What is the response limit of the throttle engagement (gas pedal) with sport and track mode?

I ve never tried to rev up all the way to the red line with different modes on neutral, i shall try and see. My guess is the throttle won't reponse after the gas pedal is like half way down in track mode, which is hitting the rev limiter! The rpm should be linear with how much you press that pedal. Otherwise it feels like you are playing a racing video game with one button acceleration.

I might be old school here. Oh well!
To me it feels like normal mode only scales from 0-80% throttle with a super nanny, sport being 0-100% with a conservative nanny, and track 0-100% with nearly no nanny.

Also in the other driving modes you get a higher redline before the PCM cuts fuel so there is a big difference between normal and sport/track. I'll catch myself at wot wondering why it just cut fuel at 6200~ rpm and then realize that i didn't switch modes heh :headbonk:

This was my understanding. Less nanny so you can spin a little more before it kicks in but still not the driving modes.
This is what it does, but a driving mode changes the steering, throttle response, and traction control. It might actually do some other stuff, but I have a feeling that outside the throttle, the base is able to do everything the premium is. I don't think you can customize the suspension on the go, so that's not a worry. I can't think of what else the driving modes would change.

On the auto, going into sport+ or track also change the shifting algorithm.

The driving modes definitely change when the PCM cuts fuel as well. You can hit 7k~ rpm with track mode (and the Roush blower makes power all the way up to like 7.5-8k too if only my tune would let me)

Interesting. First I've heard of this.

Premiums also flash red when you get to redline telling you to shift. It gives you about a second of redline before it cuts fuel instead of the instant cut that normal mode does.

I knew about the flashing red at redline. Does sport+ give you the extra second as well?

I'm not 100% sure but I believe sport and track both give you a little leeway at redline. I usually skip sport if I want to have a bit of fun though.

I'll see if I can test that out later tonight.

Ah, so it changes throttle response, the fuel mapping, steering, and traction control?

Steering feel is only modified by the settings on the driver display(probably not the right name but the display between your gauges) AFAIK. You can be in track mode and still have it on comfort, sport, or normal steering feel I don't think it changes that.

Can a tune be configured to default to Sport/Track/whatever?
