Just got my baby a few days ago. Today I decided to give her a full detail, which I'm still a beginner at, I did a lot of research prior to this though. While cleaning I found a couple spots on the car that seem to look like tar really hard and stuck to the surface after a while of trying to get it off with a clay bar I decided to stop. It just wouldn't come off. Any tips on how to get this off my car ??

Usually tar will at least smear.

Bug and tar remover work well. As does spray choke/carb cleaner. But both take the wax off so make sure to touch it up.

Tar Removal ?

Dupont "Bug and Tar " remover. Available at most auto parts stores works great.

Goof Off will do the trick as well.

When we were young and didn't have much money we would use Plane old Lighter Fluid.

My guess is that all of these will remove the wax to some extent!

Clay bar will also pick off small spots of tar. You can also just remove with clean cloth & some water. No solvents needed.

Turtle Wax Bug & Tar is one of the better products and does not cost a lot.

Good stuff and cheap. I dab it on and allow it time to soften the tar. I go and put it on every spot on both sides and then come back to the other side and start to remove it. In most cases, this will work well.

On really stubborn dry tar I go and use the 3M Adhesive Spray remover that most Auto Parts stores sell. It's expensive but seems to work.
