The other day a Mercedes SUV flew by me and cut me off by inches!! Then was stuck in front of me, I did not fully engage but I kept my horn on him for a good 2 minutes until he brake checked me and squeezed between cars and left.
Yikes! Can’t stand people like that. Drive like ass to get one spot ahead of someone. That extra 6 feet really got them to their destination faster

People still do that!!! I have yet to see it in years, hahaha
I’ve seen a few places that still take checks but there’s a machine that takes it and it’s run electronically (I assume it scans your account and routing numbers and pulls it from your account that way). They give you the check back after they run it through the machine.

I get tailgated all the time. I usually drive 8 to 10 over on freeways so I am not impeding traffic. I believe it is adaptive cruise that causes most of it. I just keep slowing down till the idiot decides to pass. There have been several times I've slowed to 35 with my hazards on before they pass.

2 minutes of horn sounds pretty aggressive... Hate to see what happens when fully engaged! 🤣

I don't know what's a more dangerous form of road rage here in Texas where everyone has guns, but I tend to brake check the worst tailgaters on the freeway when I get really annoyed... Giving them the bird seems like a more likely way to get shot, but brake checks probably aren't much better, heh.

Yeah you’re rolling the dice there. If you slow down gradually where theres space for them to pass and they’ll usually give up and pass just the same. Better to just move over tho. Trying to teach someone a lesson works 1% of the time and when it does you probably got a lesson too.

If I do brake check, its with one foot on the gas so they get the lights but I dont slow down much at all. Less likely to cause a collision if they arent reacting quickly enough. Its pretty rare that I’ll do that these days because its a very dick move and you can risk someone getting so pissed they act out.

I try to give the big thumbs down instead of the bird. Its less common and I think its funnier.

Yeah, I can count on one hand the number of times in my whole life that I actually brake checked someone [intentionally]. It's a rare kinda lost-my-temper situation, but it does seem to be somewhat effective, heh.

I'm not an asshole left-lane blocker, I move over when reasonable to do so. Most of the times I'm tailgated to this extent, it's on a two-lane interstate where traffic is moving quickly enough for tailgating to be dangerous, but there's still too much traffic to go "normal" speed or to easily navigate around slower vehicles, and we're still [slowly] passing slow-lane traffic. So it's like a "where the hell do you want me to go, back off, we're both stuck here" situation...

Granted, if I were more level-headed in those situations, it would probably still be better to move over, let the asshole pass, and then get back into the passing lane.

... Of course sometimes you'll even find someone who will tailgate you in the slow lane.

Oh, so I shouldn't throw a handfull of chromoly steel 1/2" ball bearings out the window and behind me when this happens?
Old spark plugs work equally as well, that's an old biker's method to take care of tailgaters.

My GMC truck has a trailer hitch plug that has the phrase on it "buckle up I want to try something" If you can read it, you are to close, and I do brake check.

In Alabama it is illegal to drive in the fast lane of an interstate unless you are passing another vehicle, if you go more than 1.5 miles without passing a vehicle you can be ticketed for it. Don't know if it has ever been enforced but should be IMO.

I stay in right lane unless passing and always get on with my pass to clear the lane for the idiots that are always late for something.

What was really annoying is I was in the right lane going home yesterday afternoon so the M2 could’ve easily moved into the left lane and passed. I stay in the right lane on that particular road as long as I can because a lot of folks treat that particular street like it’s Talladega or Daytona.
When you first posted I assumed you must be driving slowly in the left lane, but to me what you are describing is harder to explain. Probably the guy wanted to race and show that his car is faster or something. Since your windows are tinted he might not have recognized that you are an adult with a child in the car.

I pass people one car at a time quite often. One road I drive home on I swear all the people who want to read their phone in the car while driving plop themselves in the left lane. Then they leave a huge gap in front of them so they don't crash when they aren't looking. I'm talking 20 mph bumper to bumper and they leave 10-20 car length openings in front of them. Often the right lane is faster than the left due to these people. They drive 5-10 mph slower than the rest of the cars and block up the left lane.

If there's an opening on the right I will go around and go up to the next car.. often it's another person doing the same thing. Rinse and repeat.

I do that as well. If there’s a big gap there I will take it. My comment was more towards the people like the other poster was talking about, the people that actively cut others off to get one spot ahead. To me there’s a difference between the two behaviors.
